I've been here for a few days, soaking up information and finding this a wonderfully rich community and resource. I've been interested in and using the Book of Changes on and off since the late '60's. I'm no expert, and yet have found it something I've turned to repeatedly, especially at nodal points.

What do y'all think of Alfred Huang's translation?

I'm looking forward to reading, marking, and inwardly digesting the free lessons for which I've signed up. I'm also looking forward to getting to know you better. I'm excited to have landed here!

Want to extend a warmest welcome to you!

Personally, my favorites in translation are the Wilhelm and the "Total I Ching" by Stephen Karcher. I never happened to meet the Huang translation.

Namaste,

Soshin

Hello, Rinda! Thank you for posting http://www.onlineclarity.co.uk/I_Ching_community/clipart/happy.gif

I would open Huang especially for a clear, 'traditional' analysis of line relationships, and for the plain-English versions of the commentary on the judgement.

He's not the most reliable source either for character origins (LiSe's site is!), or for history. But I like the good-natured, approachable feel to his version.

(His Numerology of the I Ching is on my bookshelf, and I will almost certainly get around to it one of these days...)
