Romantic situations are allways difficult to predict the outcome as logic usualy submits itself to passion.To be honest,If i were you i would sit tight because the situation will not resolve itself overnight.Without seeming patronising,Try to adopt a more positive aproach towards your enviroment.I think this man will be sorry because you will eventually move on to something better!.
