Not sure what you were asking about but what I get is that you need to make sure you understand the situation and what brought it about and then stand firm, have reliable support for whatever you are trying to do, then face the situation realistically and finally keep a low profile. Thats the best I can do without knowing what the specific topic was. Maybe some of the more experienced people here will have better insight.
