I am Vassilissa. This afternoon I decided to join this community. I started consulting I Ching when I was six. As I was ill and layed quite bored in my bed, my poor mother (God bless her anyhow) tried to find something to keep my little mind busy - maybe to buy I Ching was rather an unconventional choice, but it undoubtedly worked. I still use my old ediction - I am quite affectionated to it. For a long period, I refused to make my coins tingling. Then I had to face very difficult situations, and I found I Ching is one of the best help I can have. I hope I can find here someone who is as enthusiastic as me. Kisses to the world. Vassilissa.

Welcome, Vassilissa.
That's incredible that you were learning I Ching at 6! Would you share which version you were first presented with? Did it make sense to you right away? Were you able to apply any philosophical principles from Yi at that early age?
Really curious.

Hello, Vassilissa! I agree with Candid all the way... I'm very curious, too. Can you remember any of those first conversations you had with the I Ching?
Anyway, you've just found quite a lot of people who are as enthusiastic as you! http://www.onlineclarity.co.uk/I_Ching_community/clipart/happy.gif I hope you'll make yourself at home and tell us some more about yourself.

Welcome Vassilissa,
What a beautiful name! Straight out of a Russian Folk Tale.
I hope that you will enjoy being a part of the community here at Clarity.
Best wishes,

Welcome Vassilissa!
Learning the Yi in my early twenties, I was struck that its knowledge was "at right angles" to my "rational" perspective of the world before. Learning and using the Yi opened my perceptions to the world, and showed that the world was unimaginally greater. The YiJing, or Classic of Change, changed my view of the world.
From my own children's perspective when they were young, their perception of the world is not so grounded in "reality" as it comes to most adults. If they see water running up hill, they think so what, why not? Learning the Yi as a child of six, I would guess that you simply accepted its working as another facet of the world, like gravity, its there. Perhaps, I am far off from your perception, and woud love to hear of your thoughts.
When I first used the Yi, I used only one coin, flipping it many times to cast my first Hexagram. You have helped me remember that there was no tingling sound on this first occasion. Thank you!
I am glad you are here.
Aloha,
Rhett

Welcomewelcome Vassilissa,
I wish I could hear you say your name, so I'd know how to hear it in my mind! (Perhaps at one of our web chats?) ...I suspect you have much to add to our community!

Dear Everybody,
As it seems I absolutely need to practise my English (not to make perfect - perfection is not of this life, I think at the present moment), I am quite happy to find here such lovely and friendly people, who are so willing to talk to me and share my passion. To begin answering some of your questions, when I was a child, the language of I Ching seemed to me difficult but "natural": something similar to the language of fairytales. So I took it as it was: another world. And, yes, I remember well which kind of hexagrams I had - such as, for instance, "Joy" or "Splendid beauty" (sorry, I know this last one has a different name in English, but I cannot remember which. These are troubles you ordinarily have when you shift rapidly from one language to another...). Anyhow, hexagrams that I cannot have as a result just from the time of my childhood. So, as you see, approaching I Ching was quite a pleasant experience to me. When I grew up, things became less "pleasant": for a while, I had such negative responses I left I Ching apart - sometimes you do not want to see the truth. Now I sort of reconciliated with the Oracle. I don't think I am addicted to it, but I use it, when I need an objective opinion. Now I must leave - sorry... Vassilissa
