Do you mean you are absolutely unable to make contact with the friend to find out if s/he is alright ? Is it urgent because they have gone missing and you fear for their safety - or is it just that you are worried about the relationship ?

I don't think I would rely wholly on divination in order to find out if a friend were in actual physical danger - and would not feel confident advising you solely on the hexagram you recieved and the information given. Perhaps if you give a little more information it might be easier for others to help with interpretation of the answers you received.

M Anon I'm not sure why you have 5 as the 'approached hexagram' ? 29 lines 1 and 5 give hex 19 - don't they ? Nor am I clear as to where hex 25 comes in ? Am I missing something ?

This is a positive oracle - given the question you asked, it's about as close to a "yes" as you're likely to get out of the Yi. In fact, I just this morning I asked about Shannon who has been in Barcelona all week at a conference and hasn't called. Got 24.1.2.4.5 and what do you know, she called me at work about 3 hours later.

Despite that, I still think Anon99's advice on this matter is quite solid and you should follow it if you can...
