HMMMMM, I am so touched..and I am so sure that almost every woman can relate to that story of how we distrust what we know, and distrust ourselves, and feel we need to be approved of or validated in some way before we can step into and occupy our own being.
Thank you for that story, LiSe, Coyote amd dear Lotti

The video won't load for me... the image for the video won't load... http://www.onlineclarity.co.uk/I_Ching_community/clipart/irked.gif
Is there a secret to downloading it?

Error message:

Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The file may be formatted with an unsupported codec, or the Internet security setting on your computer is set too high. Lower your browser's security setting, and then try again.

I took the browser security down from medium to low and it still didn't work.

Agreeing with everything said here.
Val, the video frame should appear, then just mouse over it and it should play.

Val, you may need to download newest WMP. There's also codec downloads somewhere on MS, though I'm surprised it requires this.

Hi Bruce...
Hi Hilary...
Bruce... there's nothing to mouse over... it's the MSIE substitute for an image. I bypassed that and right click d/led the video from the left menu bar, and it still won't play.
I have the latest version of media player and MSIE, and I don't have any problem with any other videos that are media player compatible. I watch the news, movie trailers and all manner of videos here with no problem.
Thank you for the codec link. Unfortunately, it does me no good. I can't install the package because only authorized personnel can install certain programs and that includes MSIE programs.

Val

That's what appears here for about 3,4 seconds (DSL connection), until the movie frame loads.
This is LiSe's night time. I'm sure she'll look into it more tomorrow.
I know she edited the file using a movie maker program other than MS's, then saved and uploaded it as a regular mpeg.

Thanks all of you for the nice answers! Was quite scary to put everything there! But it feels like really having stepped out of that door now. Feels good!

owww, no idea what to do now..
Anybody any idea? I made a link to the mpeg itself, and when I click it, it opens my player.
I can try the Sonicmemo thing, but I am afraid when the link does not work, that one will neither...
Going to try anyway.

Strange.. When I go there with Internet Explorer, the video plays without any problem, and I can also download it with the link I did put underneath.
But when I go there with Firefox, it does not play, and not download either.

Hi LiSe...
I have a thought about this. I researched the error message I got and discovered it's pretty generic and covers a broad range of ills. Did you use a freeware or shareware program to build your video? If so, it might build a bit of spyware into its product... your video. My company has security systems in place that override any security changes I make on my browser and Firefox is built to repel spyware. That seems to be at least one common denominator in our problem.
hmmmmmmm

Val

LiSe purchased the video editing software. We checked out several and I think chose Ulead. If not, then one like it.

How nice to have an 'error message of the day'!
Hmmmm, indeed, and likewise grmp (love that one!) and probably pfft! too.
In that case, Val, try right-clicking the link, downloading the file, and then playing it in Windows Media Player. If it still won't, maybe WMP needs an update?

I did the right click thing Hilary. See my post of 7/10 at 12:44p. And I have the latest version of WMP.
Actually, Bruce may have solved the mystery... and Firefox... since one of the big things about Firefox is it sniffs out and prevents adware.
Thank you Bruce! Ulead, which distributes a lot of shareware, is notorious for bundling adware. I've had my own experience with their shareware. I had a couple of Ulead plugins for Photoshop once. Pesky little hijackers. I tried to uninstall and the Ulead folders just kept coming back. Uggghhhh.
I'm not saying that's happened to LiSe and her video, but I'm not saying I would be surprised either if she found ULead adware to be the culprit.

Val

Wow, what an inspiring story,
told with such truth.
A crane calling indeed.
Good on you.
I'm just finding a voice and a visibility and it's wonderful to hear about your searching.
You do good work in your Lotti/LiSe/Coyote-ness which so many people can relate to. Thank you.
Blessings,

I made it with Pixela Image Mixer, which comes with the Sony camera. I also have Cyberlink PowerDirector, but I don't think I used it for this video. Quite certain btw I did not.
And I have Microsoft Spyware-whatever which is good at recognizing spyware, and My PC does not protest when I open or download it...
When I 'download' I get the picture of Quicktime player, but a message that it cannot play it because "the file is corrupt, or has not an extension it can recognize". Quicktime has an annoying habit of making itself all the time again 'default', going to throw it out...
Oh well... I look in the video like a girl of 8, with white socks on. Need them even in the hottest summer, because this building is always cool, but that means chilly around the ankles. So you will have to use your imagination, until I find a way to solve this...

FWIW - which is not much, as the converted file has come out with annoying pauses and jumps that weren't in the original version - here is a version converted to wmv format (http://www.onlineclarity.co.uk/I_Ching_community/messages/48/4door.wmv). Right-click the link to download again, and all that - it's about 1MB. Converted, in case anyone is worried, with Microsoft's very own Windows Media Encoder. (So ask Microsoft why it came out jumpy... grmp...)

It worked Hilary. Thank you so much. It's jumpy because the conversion took out a bunch of frames.
