Hi everyone,

When I ask the Yi about a relationship I have, I often get hexagram 2 as the resulting hexagram. Eg. 7.2 changing to hexagram 2.

As this is a common thread, I am very interested in it. Any insight?

I read that we are the "earth" or "foundation for each other" or that our relationship has a strong "foundation".

Any thoughts?

Regards, and many thanks in advance,

Don.

Thats a good interpretation for hex 2, but one I have come to use is go with the flow. Let go of control, dont try to make things be the way you want, accept what is, be receptive to all that comes your way, and dont try to force anything. Hope this helps.

Don, my understanding of #2 is, very generally, to BE GUIDED BY THE SITUATION. One of the main characters in the many attributes of the Kun trigram, is of a river moving between the banks - being fluid within the shape of the solid. It is supple, and flexible - which might be useful in a relationship situation... Also, and this is a big one, it is a lot about devotion, and I don't mean that in a sentimental way at all. Other attributes of it are being nurturing, nourishing, supportive... look at the Image of #2, which says that "the superior man who has breadth of character carries the world - or the myriad beings."
There's lots, lots lots in this one...

Hi Sherab and Seeker,

Many thanks for your interpretations. The see that the Yi, as usual is giving me good advice. I often can try to control the progress of the relationship - perhaps I do need to let thing "evolve" naturally or, as Sherab says: "Be Guided By the Situation". I am glad to see that Hex 2 is about devotion. She knows my devotion to her - and I know hers to me. Our relationship is about support, nourishment, and nurturing each other. In short, let the relationship evolve by being nuturing, supportive and nourishing for her and we will achieve our relationship goals! I like that a lot.
Again, many, many thanks for your help!
Regards,
Don

Hi Don...

It's been my experience that most answers that yield hex 2 as the resulting hexagram are telling me to be receptive (rather than active) to the action described in the primary hexagram.

Love,

Val
