Hi Luis,
Thanks for these links. I'm a novice with the I Ching and I'm currently devouring every web-site and published translation I can find. I hadn't come across these before even though I must have done hundreds of searches by now. I followed them up and found them interesting. I'll be reading them more thoroughly in the coming weeks.
Here's a link I found some time ago about the Yi that I find myself consulting a lot:

Once again, thanks

Michael...
Thank you for the url. I've bookmarked it. Have you read his great interpretation of Hexagram 30 yet?

Hi Val,
Yes. I've had this one recently - how's that for synchronicity! I think I looked it up in my Wilhem version originally, but your posting prompted me to check it out again on this site and you're right, Hexagram 30 is vividly spelled out here.

Malka...
I have no idea where this man's site was moved to. I've looked and can't find it. I miss it. If anyone else knows, I'd love you to share.
It was the clearest (clarity) interpretation of clarity I've read.
Love,

Malka...
NEWS FLASH! I just did a search using all kinds of criteria..."wisdom of the I Ching" worked... and I found the new site. It apparently is brand new. He doesn't have all the hexagrams there yet. And 30 isn't there yet. But here's the url nonetheless.

I've searched online, and found an incomplete version at http://eyler.freeservers.com/Wisdom/wicindex.htm
Unless there are two of Robert Eyler Coates, Sr, it seems the author died in Jan 2002. What a huge shame to have missed talking with him...
I think this page belongs to his son:
http://www.set.usm.edu/BCoates/personal.html
who might have the complete work.
I may also have it somewhere on my hard drive. A shame the computer doesn't have an internal Google...

Val and Hilary,
Thank you. I read what was posted on the above website and it is lovely. If anyway has the complete version electronically than I would love a copy. If not, then Johnro can we connect and maybe I can purchase a hard copy from you?

A hyper-generous lurker has hunted down cached versions of the whole thing, and formatted them to boot. Here it all is, pdf-ed to be compatible with everyone's machine. Right click and choose 'save target as' if you have a slow connection.

BIG thanks to all who worked on finding this and especially to our Generous Lurker. Lots more to study. And I'd just managed to get a copy of Sarah Dening's Everyday I Ching, too. So much to read, so little time...

Thank you everyone for that wonderful WIC file. Printed out all 123 pages and can't wait to read it all. All I need now is an electric hole puncher so I can put it in a 3-ring binder. Got to keep those un-numbered pages together!!

Hi shaoqui...
The first time I tried, I had about three or four programs open that were using bandwidth (I'm on dial-up *grunt and groan*), and it wouldn't save. I closed all the programs and my browser, then re-opened my browser and tried again, and it worked.
I don't understand the white screen, though, if you're right clicking on the hyperlink. hmmmmm

Wow, thanks to the lurker! I think I may know who the lurker is... The same one that forwarded me the material for the Method of 64, perhaps? If so, that lady is a little angel and I respect her privacy.
Thanks again!

I had no problem with the link. The whole PDF file loaded almost instantly. My cable modem was fast before, but they just increased it to super-fast. "Full bandwidth" they call it, and at no extra charge no less. Nice to get something free for a change.
I never heard of this man, Coates, before, but I am very impressed with his work. Thank you, Generous Lurker, Hilary, et al.

About the PDF Problem. I also faced it, but I was able to go around after much trial and error. I did not try to save it to disk anymore but to look at it online, and then to safe it from the Adobe Acrobat Reader which opens in your browser window. At least this worked fine for me.
Hope, that helps,
Yours, Soshin

Hi Hilary...
I have a situation here. Your organization and formatting of this pdf book is perfect for some important reference material that is kept on a shared p/w protected website for my department at work.
Right now they keep it as docs and pdfs subdivided in "topic" folders, a system which some people find very inconvenient. They'd love to be able to just go down a list and click on the document they need. I'd love to present the pdf formatting you've done for consideration for updating and streamlining access to this material. I don't feel comfortable about presenting a book on the Yi Jing, however. So...
my question to you: Is there another less esoteric example of this kind of indexing on the net anywhere to which I can direct the decision makers here?
Thanks!
Love,
Val

Well, obviously I'we never made a pdf that wasn't Yi-ish. And while there must be some more nicely-done pdfs out there somewhere, I can't think of a good one. I'll have a look.
But basically whatever indexing you can do in a Word document, you can convert to pdf, and set the pdf to open split-screen in that style if you like. You could always make your sample indexed thing and send it to me to convert.
If you have the full Adobe Acrobat (which I don't), you can also link from one pdf file to another, and create ultra-complex indexing systems to your heart's content.
