Thank you anon, I couldn't have put it half as well. Especially what you wrote about time. I never understand why people think something should be more true because a) it's very old or b) it's very new.

Even if you don't believe that the I Ching will make accurate predictions or provide independent insight, you can still use it as a stimulus for your own thought. (Actually, that's how I started using it - this whole site was produced by an ex-sceptic ;-) )

Anyone reading this with experience of your own, please note - there is a SURVEY (http://www.onlineClarity.co.uk/html/survey/survey.html) up to gather some data about people's experience with the I Ching, and whether it 'works'. Please vote!

Sorry, I'm a bit late on this one. Perhaps the keyword in "rational's" message is the phrase "objective observer". Observation demands both subject and object, and I think this is where the Yi enters the situation. It embodies the objectivity which we can only subjectively seek.

I often respond to this rationale with a little speech about the fact that three thousand years ago the "Book of Changes"
was even then considered ancient. Yes this is the 21st century, look around you, are we really wiser?
