Anyone else familiar with Mind Mapping?

It's a method popularised by Tony Buzan to help you organise your thoughts and help your memory.

There are lots of ways that you can use Mind Maps and I've found them to be very useful.

I've started trying to draw Mind Maps of the hexagrams. It's been great fun and fantastic for trying to get into the meanings of the judgements.

Also, I now have a way to memorise hexagrams judgements and line meanings by visualising my Mind Maps.

Anyone else interested in this idea?

Best wishes,

Mick

Yes, I'm interested! I find I occasionally use something a bit like mind maps... though I'm not very good at it, they always end up with sentences and paragraphs and far too many interconnecting lines!

It would be fun to play with mapping and remapping the connections through a whole reading... (Help! I need 5-dimensional paper!)

Mick, do you have an image of an example hexagram mind-map? I'd be very interested to see how this comes out in practice.

You can upload images in .gif or .jpeg format here - for instructions, click the 'formatting' link on the left and search the page for 'upload'.

Add me to that list also, Mick. http://www.onlineclarity.co.uk/i_ching_discussion/clipart/happy.gif

I've still been counter referencing with LiSe's work and its incredibly refreshing!

Hilary/Candid,

I'm useless with computers but I've had a go at scanning in my mind-map for Hx 1.

It's come out portrait rather than landscape, but I hope you get the idea.

Can you view this:

Ah, that didn't quite come out how I thought it would...

Still, if you turn sideways, you get the idea.

Hilary, can you give me some technical help please?

Best wishes,

Mick

Thanks for the image, Mick!

I've turned it right way up and shrunk it so it fits on the page. Unfortunately that leaves the text illegible. So - click this link to open the full-sized image in a new window (http://www.onlineClarity.co.uk/images/3341.jpg)

Just a curious side note, I have read recently how scientists are working on mind mapping literally. The concept is to hook your brain up to some kind of computing system, and actually see your life's activities on screen. It is expected to be useful as a crime tool. They are working on being able to map your activities to such an extent that if you commit a crime, it is right there on (CD?) Some formatting device anyway.
