I've now been learning I Ching since December 2005 and bought 5 books since.I bought the Sorrell's book "The I Ching made easy" with Sarah Dening's book "The everyday I Ching" and another book, "The illustrated I Ching".I have since bought Stephen Karcher's "Symbols of love" followed by his book "Total I Ching".(Every time I buy books I buy books for my other interests.)

I use both those books and the Sorrell book.Does anyone use the either or both the Karcher books? How have they helped you? I'd like to compare notes.

I like the book "Symbols of love" as it was specifically for relationships, thats why I bought it.The "Total I Ching" book I bought to use for every other matter. What is interesting is the books are very similar but the "Total I Ching is more indepth again.I have wondered many times if just using the book "Total I Ching" is good enough for all questions even relationships.

Would like to hear back from others that use these 2 books.Thanks.

My personal favourite is the Karcher book "How To Use The I Ching" which has the hexagrams in a nice two page spread. I do have the Total I Ching, but in fact don't use that so much.

Denv12,
I have the two Karcher books you mentioned, plus the one Eubie listed. I personally like Karcher and use them, and yes, the Symbols of Love edition is great for relationship-type questions. I actually like the Total I Ching when I am doing in-depth inquiries concerning major life issues. The key words and his summaries trigger a lot of associations in my mind and sparks my intuition and creativity.

I have Symbols of Love, but I find that it's easy to convert the answers to suit questions not just about relationships. It's my first I Ching book and I'm thinking of getting more Karcher books since that one is nice and clear.
