4.5 -> 59 - Annual Birthday Reading

Each year, on my birthday (September 16) I do a special reading asking what the year holds for me, what should I know, and does the Yi have any advice for me for the year. I got 4.5 -> 59 this year. It seems rather surprising to draw a 4 this year. Any comments or feedback would be appreciated.

Jus in case the commentarie could be useful

According with traditional teaching is time to learn; to protect young energy (or new beginings) in order to its development (hex 4), you should be open to learn from a guide (spiritual, technical, professional; line 5). That would lead you, as a tendece, to disolve rigid structures (or lower feelings from ego) and start a new era for you. More concrete: seems a time for spiritual or academic learning.

Now, according with traditional teaching, this time has its roots in something that happened between second week of June and Septiember 16 (mayor posibility: between August 17 and September first). You should learn from that situation: open your mind and soul to the teachings of what had happened during that period.

According with Xian Shu Yi Xue (I'll post only the summary): seems to be a good year to develop intelligence, maybe starting some kind of studies. Despite money seems to be hidden for you, eventually would be come out of hidding and allow you asum some responsabilities that would be benefic for you.

Bradford, you're right! Suddenly, at 58 years-old, I'm going through a new learning curve.

Jesed, I started a new job the second week of June, and this has been one of the best jobs I've ever had in terms of fit. Also, I've gotten back into exploring spirituality, as well as learning to act more effectively in my professional life. Money has always been a problem for me, but I'm turning the corner and am more comfortable economically than before.

Just some thoughts to try to add to Bradford and Jesed's superb ideas.

Hx 24 is the nuclear hexagram of Hx 4.

So perhaps at the heart of your current situation is the fact that you have reached a turning point in your life?

And the change to line 5, which is the position of greatest power, gives Hx 27 as the nuclear hexagram of Hx 59.

Maybe this year will see you moving towards nourishing yourself more spiritually?

It certainly sounds like it.

Could this reading also mean that you'll be learning about relationships and choice over the next twelve months?

Did you meet someone that could guide you?

Did you started some kind of spiritual practices (not only religious one, but meditation, tai chi, chi kung, and of course a better relationship with the saint Sages behind Yi Jing)?

Thank you for the comments and good wishes. I appreciate your analysis. Yes, I have reached a turning point in my life, and I'm finding a new focus on spirituality and new ways of approaching relationships. It is interesting how my thoughts and attitudes are shifting.

Checking my journal I found that right around August 17th, I reconnected with a friend who has been a large part of my growth and recovery efforts for the past ten years or so. Also, I met a young, but astonishingly insightful person whose intuitions/psychic perceptions of my inner being are quite penetrating and accurate. He recognized things in me that few others have. During that time, I also became aware of an extended studies program at a well-known school in my area that focuses on the kinds of spiritual practices you mention and plan on attending a weekend workshop on meditation there. Thank you for your insights, as well.
