Hex 11, line 4

Hi I received this when asking about the way I approach my job search, sometimes I feel I'm just going through the motions, heart not in it and I was asking about a familiar way I look, same newspaper etc. I was wondering if I was just kidding myself, going through the motions, who knows for whose benefit. Anyway I threw hex 11 line 4. I can't quite get a handle on its meaning since all the many versions I have differ quite broadly. Some talk about 'using wealth of neighbours', some about 'not boasting of wealth' (ha ha fat chance)others talk of a little bird fluttering down together with others, mingling, not having pretensions etc. Some seem to say it is weak to rely on others now, others say its fine to ask for help ?

Right now my gut feeling is to go with the idea of not pretending in anyway, really being genuine would I guess stop any feeling of going through the motions. Perhaps I have just answered my own question, still I'd be glad if anyone had anything to share on their perception or experience with this line.

This line kind of reminds me of hex 9 line 5 which also differs much in interpretation, some saying do not rely on others, some saying it is okay to receive support at this time. I never quite know how to take that either.

You did just answer your own question.
11.4 paints a picture of insincerity and frivolousness in social interactions, and suggests that it is heartfelt interaction with neighbors that meets real needs and leads to enrichmment, not twittering about.
And yet this superficial behavior might be just what is expected of one who is searching for work. If you plan to be candid and authentic instead, I would plan carefully, so that your approach is refreshing instead of threatening. Also, from Zhi Gua 34, I would speak little, but right to the point.
