poetry reading

I have been through a very down period lately...it is near the anniversary of losing my dear partner nearly two years ago...the grief has been terrible recently.This has not been helped by the fact that i got involved with a man who is very emotionally unavailable and i have felt very drained by his behaviour. However, i thought i would try to go to a poetry reading this evening to get back into socialising...also i do love poetry very much and enjoyed going to readings with the partner i lost.I asked the I Ching "would I enjoy this event", the answer I received was hexagram 57 lines 1 and 6 becoming hexagram 5...can anyone make any sense of this? Hi Sparkler, sorry to hear of your loss. My take on your reading is that you need to muster some courage here, like the warrior in line 1 and don't hesitate too much as in line 6. You asked if you will enjoy it and i feel that your answer acknowledges it isn't the easiest thing in the world for you to do, it does take courage. Perhaps be prepared for feelings of sadness but go through them anyway - I think eventually it results in enriching some kind of time of waiting. In a strange sort of way grief can feel like a kind of waiting - you know its just something one has to go through, it takes its own time and you can't hurry it along, but maybe sometimes you can make it more bearable in small ways.

Going back to doing something you enjoyed with him takes guts but in my own experience it hurts less and less the more you do it -(like 57, gentle repetition) soon you have a new set of memories and associations of going there which makes it less painful. Might be you feel more connected to him there which may be a comfort, I guess everyone copes in different ways but I'm sure he wouldn't want you to give up something you love doing.

Also poetry sounds a good idea to me, therapeutic and as I said enriching.

Thats just my perspective, others may differ. If you do go I wish you luck :)

Hex 57.1,6 > 5 says don't hesitate, you know what going entails so don't probe into the whys and wherefores anymore, you have waited long enough so go get your nourishment, go to the poetry reading because you will enjoy it.

Thanks trojan for your very kind reply...your interpretation makes a lot of sense...I will go along to the reading as it is not too far from me here in London...but as the I Ching says it will be quite difficult...and also thanks also to you willowfox...I will certainly try to enjoy it
