Yo! Oracle buddies! What do you make of this one? I drew 62.2.4 this morning in answer to an open-ended 'what do I need to know now?' question.

62 has always baffled me a bit, but I usually take it to mean that the best way to get through/past this situation is to attend to smallness and detail and to 'fly low'.

So how do I read 28 as 62's relating hexagram? I can't ever recall having drawn this overlay before. 28 talks about getting *way* past the situation, right? If that's the case, then the best I can come up with is something like: "attend to smallness and detail and flying low which gets you completely beyond the situation you're in."

But that seems like a bit of a contradiction to me.

Hi Dobro,

Hard to say what's happening here without insight into what was going on in your head when you drew this reading. For instance, if you were experiencing anxiety over something, or were just in one of those moods of feeling overwhelmed or bogged down, then it would fit together with 62 easily, saying, "whoa, good buddy, slow down and move your focus to little things."

Hi Dobro
Just in case the commentarie could be useful

In one prhase: "In a context of excesses, you should return to small expeditions".

The related hex is the context, shows yang energy is in excess.
Answer hex shows that in this time correct energy is yinn one.

Is something like: you are having great aspirations, but this is an excess; return to smaller ones. Another example: Don?t miss small details for thinking in great ideas.. and so on

Best wishes

PS

Sorry... the lines are saying the same:
Line 2: if you cannot meet the king, accept to meet the minister
Line 4: is not time to search actively for your goal; in its proper time it will came to you.

Dobro,

What do you need to know? (I like making very broad readings like that as well, sometimes.)

62.2, That there is a power changing hands, and in a way that is favorable and possibly surprising.

62.4, Be wary. You, or the principal persons on your mind at this point, those involved with this power transition are in some danger.

I wish you good luck in this matter.

From a hexagram to hexagram perspective - excess has become small excesses in some fashion, or vice versa.

So, the small excesses are in danger of building up to a situation of real excess (this is probably a negative thing). (Relating hexagram as result.)

Or the situation of excess has toned down to small excesses (relating hexagram as context). This is probably a good thing, but the situation still holds dangers per 62.4.

I know the above is quite general, but hey - so was your question. ;-)

Is one sentence missing? Something like "deprived of its excellence, without shine".
(After luminosity)

Beautiful translation btw.

Gee I'm dumb sometimes. Well, all of the time actually, but it's more apparent sometimes.

I drew 62.2.5. That's how the relating hex is 28.

Yeah, I do. But I'm not addressing my question to people who don't have the ability to spot obvious humor. I wasn't trying to mislead people in that other cluster of threads; I was trying to both entertain and to illustrate what to me was a stupid use of oracles. This thread is a legitimate question. But if people are wary of *everything* I post nowadays because they got fooled when I wasn't trying to fool anybody, well... maybe I'm better off without their input lol.

Anyway, does Hex 62 mean 'getting a little bit past the situation' or does it mean 'attention to smallness and lowness gets you past the situation'.

What's your call, Bruce?

Hey! Wait a minute! What's that over there? What's that thing running through the trees? lol

Seriously, what's your take on Hex 62?

Don't sweat the small stuff... it'll make you crazy.

Val's absolutely right, *and* the flip side of that coin is there are occasional times/conditions when you'd *better* deal with the small stuff correctly. The last place you want to be is the path of army ants... And they can be hard to see coming, too!

Hi Dobro...

To me 62 is about a situation that?s about to change in a situation so different then before that you have to stay low to grab it. It?s a total new situation, so to understand it you should stay low. 28 is then about the tention in that new situation. So.. what you need to know is to how to deal in a new situation...

And I took this post at least a bit more seriously then the other ones :-D.
