Help interpreting a dream

I have been having this dream for more than a week and it keeps coming back. Can someone help me with its meaning? I have a boyfriend and we haven't spoken for quite some time. However I see him always in my dreams when I sleep. Yesterday I was to go and see him (in my dreams) but had to pass through some fontain, and some beautiful white water. To get to that place I had to go through that water. Do you think my friend might be in some kind of trouble? The last time we spoke he was under too much stress. Odile.

Dear Odile
The caveat is that though there is some universality to dream symbols they are very personal and can mean different things to different folks.

For me the most important thing in Dream interpretation is to write it out in as much detail as you can as soon as you can.

Then mark the different parts as per the feeling you were experiencing at that point in the dream.

The feeling tone will help you find the meaning of the symbol.

Example
?Smooth cool water and you feel angry? ? So you start with water as feelings and emotional memories and try to feel why you might be angry and then what they represent.

Here are some broad brush strokes:

Fountain:
Joyous release of feelings.
Feelings welling up and being released

White Water:
Shining White ? Perhaps pure spirit, pure love.
Troubled water ? Perhaps troubled feelings

Water:
Feelings, emotions.
Cleansing when passed through.
Water washes away sorrows and hurt.

Water can also be emotional memories.

You have not said whether you use the Yijing.

What was the message in ?that? part.

What was the nature of the dream? (eg advisory, foretelling, communication of inner feelings? Communication from the other? Etc)

It seems to me that you have a lot of feelings for this person? Are you able to talk to them about this?
