Hello all, I could use some help with a reading... I have been having an ongoing relationship with a man who I think is a good, honest, and sweet person, but one who becomes afraid when things get too close. We haven't spoken for about a week, and this has been surprising to me as things were moving along nicely. I asked: What does he wish for from me? Threw 1.2.5

My thought is along Dobro's line. He'd like you to assume a more inventive role in the relationship, and to let your light shine. Hard to be specific here without knowing your specifics, but 30 also means beauty shining. Whether this refers solely to inner beauty or to external beauty, or both, is hard to say. My guess is both.

I also agree that a Goddess would do nicely for him. lol.. Men! Right?

I'm going to have to go with Micheline's interpretation. But I'm picking up something else as well. Does he have big ambitions for his personal growth? Do you? Do you have talents that he admires and thinks you should grow?

Retreating when things get close? When he's feeling those scarey feelings? Why doesn't this surprise me? *grin* because this is what so many men do?

Dear Dalila,

By looking at the symbols, here's what I think...

Hexagram 1 is Qian doubled. Qian is a symbol for the head. Since it is doubled it means the relationship is still under the influence of two minds analyzing and calculating. You both have the tendency to do the same thing. Yet, when the middle line of Qian changes, Qian changes to Li, which is a symbol of the heart. Since your question was, what does he want from you, it seems as though you must be the inner trigram, because the inner trigram symbolizes the beginning of an event. If he wants something from you, and that is how you approach this problem, then you may become the initiator of change, which makes you the inner trigram. Once your focus is centered in the heart, rather than on analysis, you become Li...and you will influence him... (Li fire melts Qian metal)... line 5 changes after line 2. The outer trigram changes to Li as well. Hexagram 30 is a picture, then, of a relationship of two hearts.

To sum it up, it seems he wants you to take the initiative and show him by example, that it is ok to trust and surrender rather than control.

Nope. Hex 1's all yangs. When 2 and 5 become yins, the hex is 30. And a very attractive hexagram is it, too. Hmm, come to think of it... power combined with radiant beauty and a touch of docility... yes, very attractive.

I see 'docile' in hex 30, which is the relating hex.

I've always understood the line about raising female cattle in Hex 30 to mean something like: "develop docility".

Thank you for this. Something new to think about next time I ponder 30.

Additionally, the hexagram tag can be translated as oriole... Richard Rutt does... and some of the line statements speak of reading omens in the behavior of orioles. The oriole recurs many times in the book of songs... as a good omen for love. So... it looks positive for Dalila just about any way you read it... doesn't it?
