Hi all,
I'm new to this forum and an looking around, there's loads of interesting threads. I have a question regarding conflicting advise from changing lines. Certain books/authors mention that depending on the qualities of each line you disregard some over others, or if all change except one then treat the one that doesn't change as the changing line. It's all very confusing:eek:
To give an example, I enquired about a business venture/course I wish to run. I received 26 Ta Ch'u. Sounds good. Yet I have the first 4 lines changing. I can read this as a "progression" through the lines and if I take all into consideration it leads me to 35 Chin.
Any comments or is there a thread already discussing these issues that someone could direct me to. It's just that the first line says stop and the fourth says the way is open.
Thanks

oops I think this thread should be in the Shared Readings area, oh well:0)

Indeed, there are various ways that people deal with readings where there are "many" changing lines. As you noticed, they can be conflicting. This usually happens with 4 or more changing lines.

My way of dealing with this, and what the Yijing consultation on my website (http://www.eclecticenergies.com/iching/consultation.php?lns=999687) does, is not bothering about the changing lines when there are 4 or more. I only look at the two hexagrams, 26 and 35 in this case. This makes for a clear reading.

Others do take all lines into account, and consider the reading to be a complicated one, that needs careful analysis to clarify what every changing line means.

There are methods to reduce any reading to a single line, like the Zhuxi method. It doesn't seem to be in use much with those on this forum. I'd recommend only using it when you really feel that it's right for you, and be consistent with it. With this reading, using the Zhuxi method you'd have hex. 35 line 5 as a result.

Thanks very much for that, hex 35, line 5 is very positive and just what I need to go through with my plan.:D 'No cares for loss or gain, press forward, the way is open'
Where can I find more info on the Zhuxi method?
Good info on your web site by the way I'll spend some time there when I've got more !

Glad you appreciate my website, Heng :)

The Zhuxi method is described here, by Bradford:

Major Restraint changing to Progress sounds positive to me as well.
