21's about breaking through some kind of obstacle to union. So that's the approach to take with him - break through obstacles to actually reach him. Whether this is on an emotional or a physical level is your call.

The 33 isn't about him, it's about you. *You* are the one who's supposed to withdraw, and the result will be good. Perhaps the Yi's telling you to withdraw from the idea of telling him what you're considering telling him?

My feeling is this is saying telling him makes a happy retreat (for you and him) a happy heart from which to go on his travels. I think I go with your view. Of course I don't know what XXX is but....if it is message of affection then that would fit 33.5, yes, he has to withdraw from you but happy that you love him.

Based exclusively on my personal experience: Hex 33.5 it would not be the right time to tell him XXX (whatever XXX might be).

Yeah but i think this is one of those times where I can see the answer could well be interpreted either way, so it really is up to your intuition. Actually in this instance I think its a good idea to go with your first response, before you read what others had to say.

We had a lovely time together as we always do. I believe a "break through" happened simply because we are both becoming more relaxed with each other and more sharing is naturally happening. I did not share XXX with him directly, but I held the essence of it within me. I did learn about some unexpected common interests we share, very interesting. My heart is warm and happy.
