Got that line twice in connection with an event I was organising.

It had already been a difficult event- unsupported by the venue I was at. But I'd hoped the event itself was still okay. At first this line made me feel even more negative. Even the usually uplifting Karcher- "if you carry on you may be killed!".

But eventually I realised there may be something I could do and I began preparing as best as I could for obstacles. Sure enough we turned up at the venue to find noone had been told we were coming or prepared anything..but mentally I was ready for it, rallied round and sorted out another venue with minutes to spare. Still damaging..but not fatal.

Just wanted to share. I will certainly take that line as referring to major..but not insurmountable obstacles in future.

Hi Wolverine

Reminds of I think it is hexagram 38 and I believe the third line, (don't have my books with me) saying that sometimes it is necessary for us to put ourselves in danger when it is our duty to do so. Sometimes, if we get a negative line for something it is our duty to do, well, we just have to go through the fire.

If you were organizing this event, then I guess it was necessary to continue. Of course, being killed is an extreme situation, relating to, when the I Ching was possibly in early stages, a literal war against a superior war lord who was corrupt. In our time, while a literal meaning may still apply, it is more likely a metaphor. And here, it appears that it really did come out metaphorically in the sense that the I Ching had predicted. At any rate, you made it through, and perhaps next time, the times being different, you will sail through being more readily aware of what "can go wrong."

Interesting story, thanks for sharing,
Gene

Sounds about right - the line indicates you can be ready and deal with the situation by means of caution.

I had a bad experience with it too - almost got hit by cars several times over three days after receiving that reading. There were even warning sychronicities. Fortunately I was being particularly alert due to the auspice.

FYI, it can sometimes be helpful to ask a followup question about what's the best way to avoid danger.
