Hello!!

Would greatly appreciate if some advice can be given to how I should go about interpreting certain lines and hexagrams.

I have been practising Iching for quite some years but sometimes (twice this week), Iching gives me contradicting advice.

My 1st question was what to expect in my relationship with someone. Hexagram 23 Splitting Apart was given with 4th line changing to give Hexagram 35 Progress. Well, the reading for line 4 is pretty negative for Hexagram 23 and yet Hexagram 35 is a very positive one. Meaning I need to split apart before I can progress with my partner?? It doesn't sound logical.

I proceed to ask for the outcome if I should carry out a particular plan and got Hexagram 19 Approach with 1st and 5th lines changing to give Hexagram 29 The Abysmal. Now in this case, the readings for lines 1 and 5 are very positive and encouraging yet Hexagram 29 warns of great danger?

Can anyone with more experience than I please help enlighten me to how I should interprete these 2 readings with seemingly conflicting advice in the Primary, changing lines and Relating Hexagrams given?

My 1st question was what to expect in my relationship with someone. Hexagram 23 was given with 4th line changing to give Hexagram 35 Progress.

It suggests that you should prepare yourself for some kind of problem that is coming soon, perhaps an argument that will clear the air so to speak and the relationship will then continue to grow.

I proceeded to ask for the outcome if I should carry out a particular plan and got Hexagram 19 with 1st and 5th lines changing to give Hexagram 29.

This is telling to becareful but you can work as a team in this plan of yours, you just have to be clever in how you implement it so as not to rock the boat because as Hex 29 says there are dangers in what you are planning to do. So be determined and you can succeed.

Therefore, your plan is probably likely to cause a disturbance in your relationship but once the dust has settled all will be fine in the end.

Thank you so much Willofox for explaining things to me. I really do appreciate it tremendously.

Just a further question. In general, when you get a "good" hexgram with negative lines or maybe a "bad" hexagram with a positive line (for example 54 with 5th line), what should you do? Follow the advise given by judgement or do you follow the lines?

Always follow the lines, they are the story.
