I have the Nedstat-'pro' counter and it is expensive, got it in a stupid moment.

For the past 4 months I have been searching everywhere if I could find the last link to the counter. I want to end it, I unsubscribed, but as long as hits are generated, I have to pay for that year again.

I am now pretty certain that there is nothing anymore anywhere in my website. But still the counter gives a hit, on an average of one a day.

The only thing I can think of now, is: did anyone download my website and put it somewhere for personal use? I don't mind, I did that myself with a website with the complete Wilhelm text. But PLEASE PLEASE download it again and replace it. It is probably the 'choose a hexagram' page, but there might be a few more. Before January 1!! If possible right now, so I can check if that really did it.

One hit came from Russia, another from Belgium. If you could tell me on WHAT you click??

Google still has the page with couner in its cache, but I it seems strange that people would go to the cached one. Still might be the cause. No idea how to make them get a new one.

I would appreciate it hugely if that person(s) mailed me.

Hi Lise,

Yes, that's most likely what it is. Not sure how to stop Google from caching pages that are already cached by them (for new ones you can insert some code in the pages...) Also, remember Archive.org. (http://www.archive.org/index.php) I've found pages there that I designed back in 1994... :)

Best,

It looks as if finally I can make something happen. I found another phone number of Nedstat, and this time I did not get the same sleepy guy anymore, but awake people. They are going to find out!

Going to look in Archive.org what they have there, thanks Luis

Problem solved! The techies did find the origin of the hits, and they came from cached pages. Not something which is my fault, so I did not have to worry.

I have it in writing, so if someone else by mistake still sends a bill, I can prove that I don't have to pay.

Happy like a dog
or coyote
whatever
