I've often had the experience where after consulting the I Ching about a problem the whole situation seems to disolve. It's as if I didn't even need to use the advice the oracle gave me, just handing the problem over to Higher Mind seemed to heal it. So I asked the I Ching, "What effect does consulting the oracle have on the situation asked about?" I received 18.2.3.6 > 2. Work on What Has Been Spoiled changing to The Receptive. Sounds significant, but I don't know what to make of it. Comments?

In your case, it works that way.

18.2.3.6>2 The Yi seems to be telling you that it works exactly as you thought: when you consult the Yi, it brings to the light of your awareness the very situations that need to be brought to light in order to bring the overall system into balance, which is healing. You accept things for what they are by handing them over to the higher mind.

Ah yes, seeing things from a balanced perspective and them accepting things for what they are. As I read your words I remembered the expression, "Don't sweat the small stuff, and it's all small stuff."
Thanks dobro!

Hello Rosada!
what a wonderful observation!It is indeed like "the situation dissolves"as you very inteligently put it.And the answer to your question couldn't be more fitting.It proves once again the consistency of the Yi and should I say the the validity of the oracle if there was any doubt about it.

Thank you, Sergio!:bows:
Continuing to fuss with this idea of "dissolving," it occurs to me one might even ask the question, "What ought I focus on to heal this situation?" The responce might not even have anything to do with the situation, but by letting the perspective of the hexagram reorganize the thinking the blockage would dissolve. Haven't tested this yet.

Hi Rosada;
the idea of dissolving blockages is a vital part of traditional chinese medicine, qigong and meditation.The idea is that when there is a blockage in any of the body's meridians then illness ensues.The whole idea behind acupuncture is precisecely to dissolve those blockages and thus restore health.Same thing with Qigong where the mind dissolves any blockage the practitioner might feel in his body.In meditation and internal alchemy the purpose is to dissolve emotional blockages first to provide a clean state of mind necessary to refine your essence.On analogy the Yi might work exactly the same way but dissolving blockages that prevent us from acting or acting with a clear mind,clouding our precise assesment of events in our lives.

I've had those experiences, too. Sometimes with my own readings, sometimes when reading for others - which is a very nice corrective to the ego. I do all kinds of clever interpretive things, and hear back that the situation's transformed of itself - nothing to do with any advice/insights I relayed, which have in any case all been forgotten at once.

Maybe the Receptive attitude that divination calls for opens us up more completely? Maybe the act of finding a question has an 18-ing, diagnostic, taking-the-lid-off effect. But there's definitely something at work that's independent of understanding (much less acting on) the answer.

Ah yes... here's one I cast earlier (http://onlineclarity.co.uk/answers/2006/09/18/reading-space/), with a similar question.
