I asked what I am doing wrong in a particular situation and got hex 40 unchanging. Is this saying Im not doing anything wrong, and its something I have to go through, but it will end? Or did I miss something?

You're likely not doing anything wrong. Let it go.

Hi seeker

Just in case the comment coul be useful

Confront the model of the correct way to act (as showed in 40 hex) with your real acts.

Best wishes

I guess it depends on what you are doing and when.

Legge: "if no further operations be called for, there will be good fortune in coming back to the old conditions. If some operation be called for, there will be good fortune in the early conducting of them."

So, if the knot has still to be untied better do it soon, if it already is untied, return to normal, whatever that means in your case.
Something like that .. http://www.onlineclarity.co.uk/I_Ching_community/clipart/happy.gif

Well, I really dont know. The situation is that I was just stood up by the 6th guy in 3 months. Im trying to figure out why this keeps happening to me, if Im doing something wrong or if Im just having a run of bad luck. Also, at the back of my mind when I asked the question was the thought of wondering if he would have a reasonable explanation and it would still work out, or if I would just never hear from him again. So, the answer could be looked at in several different ways, and I was just trying to get some other viewpoints.

Hi Seeker

Tough luck, but good for you for going on dating anyway! At least you're doing something very right to get all these dates in the first place.

It's hard to answer your question because firstly it presumes you're doing something wrong (on which Yi might disagree) and secondly you also had another question in mind when asking. I would suggest asking Yi what you can do to be succesfull in love life. But only at a moment when you've come to feel free enough to focus on just the one question.

Good luck, Femke

Tough time.

Sorry Seeker.

Been there. It hurts I know.

40 - Finding new growth through hardship.

This is the birth of a new time.

Banging ones head against the wrong (type of) wall comes to mind.

Good things generally follow.

When the lesson is learned.

It is quite possible that being successful at this time means being alone, in which case there is no problem. Maybe the Yi sees no problem, you invented it as a problem.

Maybe your self seeks desperate companionship with yourself. It won't get that with your attention elsewhere.

When a project is thwarted over and over I tend to think the universe is trying to tell me something.

Yes Anon 99

To learn the lesson one usually has to look within.

Seldom outside.

Once one finds what the lesson is the answer comes easily.

Then one can move on to a new time.

The good news is that the hard lessons give the greatest rewards.

You might be right. I asked Femkes question and got 25. Same lesson, move ahead without expectations. This one is really difficult for me, sigh.

Hi Seeker

I recognize your problem. I think 25 is a wonderful and far-reaching hexagram. I would try to "stick with it" for a while, if you can.
I think it indicates relying on your own wisdom and gut feeling, rather than trying to "play the role" you think the other person would like you to play. It is important to get in touch with your "true self" (regards to Dr. Phil). To be a true friend of yourself before befriending a guy. To seek it in yourself. And if you don't feel the intrinsic motivation, you could consider taking on the project just in order to improve your love-life!

Maybe you should consider taking yourself on an indulgent date?

All the best, Femke

I once asked the IChing, "Who was Jesus?" and i received hexagram 40. The words of the image seemed to fit the question, "Thus the superior man pardons mistakes and forgives misdeeds."

in this situation, Seeker, perhaps the IC is telling you that if you have done anything wrong, no need to analyize it, just forgive yourself and the others involved.

I would be interested to know what you get if you feel to toss for something along the lines of "How will I recognize the next trustworthy dating opportunity?"
