Ok guys,

Very Open space and off topic but this one's for all those who love food - especially of the sweet variety. All this talk of fruitcakes and cupcakes reminded me I have a dinner party to prepare for in a coupla weeks. I know that's a long way off but I'm not the most culinary-minded person. But I do like desserts. Anyone have any favourites?

I have a few of my own ideas but it's always nice to get the taste-buds tingling with some international flavours....

Maybe we can assign the desserts a Hexagram. Take Moelleux au Chocolat as we call it here in France - a Chocolate Cake with dark, hot fondant Centre...Gotta be 44 right? :mischief:

lol. Yes good choices. Never that keen on Battenburg - although it can look good. Black forest might be a good one as long as it's not too heavy. "Hiding the light" offset by some double-cream :mischief:

Perhaps a light but exotic fruit salad...15 or maybe 58? Depends how hungry they are...

'Donuts' or is it 'doughnuts' seem to me to be the 'young fools' of the cake world . 'Topals dunking donut evening ?' Ah no I think Topals dinner parties are more sophisticated than that :D

Actually quite partial to apple pie Listener - a very family deal for sure. Stewed Prunes - 38 opposition! Shouldn't that be 16 - I've heard they go through one's system pretty darn quick! lol.

I love doughnuts btw. :D Definitely Hex 4.

Something just came to me while reading - I reckon I'm going for an outsider - something I used to have in a little organic cafe in the East end of London on rainy Sundays ...quite a few years back now...The guy who owned the place and the resident cook used to have the most delicious variety of Banoffee pie you can imagine. Boy, what a great dessert. At least his version of it was. It can be a hit and miss affair.

So, it's gotta be 24 for the return to the the Way of the Banoffee Warrior  and 26 because I could happily trough my way through several.:D

In case, no one has tried it, I REALLY recommend it. Here's the recipe from some site which sounds pretty authentic:

Banoffee Pie Recipe

Ingredients : Serves 4

175 g/6 oz/1 small can of condensed milk
50 g/2 oz/0.25 cup butter or margarine
25 g/1 oz/2 tbsp caster (superfine) sugar

225 g/8 oz digestive biscuits (graham crackers), crushed
1 large banana, sliced
150 ml/0.25 pt double (heavy) cream, whipped

Method :

Stand the unopened tin of condensed milk in a saucepan of simmering water and simmer for 1.5 hours, topping up with boiling water as necessary. Carefully remove from the heat, leave to cool for 10 minutes, then open the can. Melt the butter or margarine and mix in the sugar and biscuit (cookie) crumbs. Press into the base of a greased 20 cm/8 in cake tin (pan). Spread the sliced banana over the base and pour on the condensed milk, which will have turned to a toffee consistency. Spread the whipped cream over the top. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Note:
Caramelized cans of condensed milk will last a long time, so you can boil several cans at the same time and store them in the cupboard. Make sure you mark the cans with indelible pen as the labels will come off during boiling.

I know but i reckoned a doughnut has to be 4 as doughnut is slang for a stupid person in some parts isn't it or maybe i imagined it. I would say 61 is more of a custard slice.

How about a custard cream filled doughnut for Inner Truth?
