Dear friends,

In my previous thread, I already asked for help in deciphering my health issues as of late. This is kind of a continuation. I asked the Yi:

"Please show me what will happen to me if I decide to stay at CA?"

I received Hex# 28- Da Guo with 6 at the top, changing into Hex# 44- Gou.

Is the Yi telling me to get out while the gettin' is still good?

Thank you,

Strawdogs

28.6 talks about getting in over your head, and of course that's bad. But interestingly, there's no blame or fault attached. It's sort of like you're suddenly in over your head, but it's not your fault, you just suddenly find yourself in that unfortunate situation.

If getting out is possible, yeah, that would be a sweet way of dealing with it.

Thanks Dobro,

What do you think Yi means by Hex# 40 though?

When there's only one active line in a hexagram, I always ignore the relating hexagram, because I think the meaning of the relating hexagram is already contained in the active line. So, you know, the overall meaning of Hex 44 isn't very auspicious, and that's why the meaning of 28.6 isn't very auspicious.

Hi Dobro
I sort of agree with this statement of yours:
"When there's only one active line in a hexagram, I always ignore the relating hexagram, because I think the meaning of the relating hexagram is already contained in the active line".

But there's a little problem here. How many people really or already know "the meaning of ... the active line"? Not many at all, I think, and one of the ways to get to know it is to try to interpret in terms of the relating hexagram, which in turn requires studying the relating hexagram anyway. Maybe at least we could simply suggest that this is the main reason to study the relating hexagram when only one line changes.
