Okay, I've decided to give Yijing another go. A bit more detailed this time... As of yet I'm still reading Hilary's course + notes, but I decided I'll try throwing some coins.

Question: What Yijing can do for me?

Well, if your diagram is correct, it's 49.2.3.5>54

Something like that. Possibly. But keep in mind that 49 is about shedding the old so that the new appears - it's quite favorable getting rid of old forms so that you can use new forms, right? So, the Yi seems to be saying, in answer to your question: "The Yi can help you to shed old forms of understanding and old forms of action so that you can move into a new way of being."

That's great, but here's the puzzling bit. Hex 54 is about being powerless in a new situation, so in the context of your question and your situation, that could one of two things, I think:

1 As you throw off the old forms and move into new forms in your life, you will be powerless in the new situation initially.

2 As you throw off the old forms and move into new forms in your life, what you will be throwing off will be the powerlessness and dependency you've been experiencing up until now.

My guess is that #1 is the meaning.

I don't think so. I think it's great that you're changing your style, and I think that it's perfectly natural for this sort of change to be accompanied, in the beginning, by a lack of personal power as you learn the new way of being.

Hex 49.2.3.5 The IC will bring changes into your life, the way you see thing and in your attitude, but it warns you not to try and rush your studies, take it slow and carefully and in that way your intuition will blossom.

Did you record the first toss as the top line in your diagram, or the bottom? The first toss goes at the bottom, and you work up. I only mention this because the upside-down hexagram makes sense in your situation too.

line_rider, I used to go from top to bottom but on rereading the material I realised I was doing it wrong and changed that to bottom to top.
