Hello, I need some clarification. I have just started this new job. It is a humble position, hard work, evening shifts and a job that I had never done before. But I need it and have to try to keep it.

I have posed some questions to the Yi.

What can I expect from doing this job over the next few months?
Hex 36 - Darkening of the light

What will be the result of my continuing to do this job?
Hex 62 - 3rd & 4th changing lines >>> Hex 2

Please show me the outcome
Hex 19 - 1st & 2nd changing lines >>> Hex 2

I have been feeling pessimistic, please help me to interpret the readings.

I'm no expert at the hexagrams, but that 'darkening of the light' one always seems to me to be one where things are tough and you have to keep your own little candle burning bright inside you. A sort of 'cling to the idea of a good outcome no matter how grim things appear to be'.

Also, I don't read the I Ching as a 'tell me how things will work out', but more of a commentary on what my own actions and thoughts are creating around me - and advice on how to get a different outcome. So in the case of 'darkening of the light' I'd take that as advice to stay small, upset no one, just remember why you are doing that job and keep your own little light burning bright inside you, being determined that something better will come your way. And it will.

I don't feel expert enough to comment on your other hexagrams, but I'd be very interested in what others have to say, and I do hope this helps you.

Obviously, this is not a fantastic job at all but if you want to keep the job then just do as you are told, don't rock the boat, stay absolutely determined to carry on in the face of adversity, if people taunt you, just take no notice, you can't communicate with stupid people so don't ever try, then you will succeed in your goal.

If you act with caution at all times and follow the advise given for the first answer then you will have ultimate success, it will have served its purpose.

Please show me the outcome
Hex 19 - 1st & 2nd changing lines >>> Hex 2

Success

Thank you for your interpretations.:bows: The readings are actually more positive than I had thought after posing the questions. As long as, of course, I heed the advice. And I will.:)

A looooong time ago I had a job that was sheer misery. I clung to the idea that somehow I would get to something better, although at the time that appeared impossible. Then one day I picked up a magazine in the reception area and it opened at random at a job ad that looked perfect for me. With very little effort and fuss, I got that job and was out of the old one in a week (which in itself was a miracle because I was supposed to give a month's notice). The new job was brilliant, but went pear shaped after 18 months when financial difficulties meant redundancies and uncertainties. And the same thing happened. I opened a newspaper, there was a job ad and I got what turned out to be a brilliant job that gave me professional training in exactly the area that I wanted to work in. So just heed the advice and believe that something will turn up. When you are least expecting it - it will!

Good luck.

Thanks Ann! You know, when I am working at 10.00pm or weekends I remind myself of the Yi readings and keep my little candle burning inside;) I feel more optimistic about the outcome and can understand better now what willowfox said; that when I stop doing this job it will have served its purpose.
