I'm seeing the Hex 2 mare as the prime symbol of that hexagram. The genius of the mare is to be herself without taking the lead, full of energy and beauty and power, but without taking the lead. This is a perfect symbol for the person or mental state that accepts things the way they are, accepts conditions and guidelines and laws, yet which is NOT passive, but energetic in exercising its own being. A human example of this would be a medieval Christian mystic, I suppose, devoting themselves to a life of holiness, using all their faculties and energies but guided by the Word ('not my will but Thy will, O Lord, be done').

This translates in Hex 2 into the image of the noble one who is at first deluded yet who afterward gets a master - on the human level, we see a learning curve - first the egoic self that thinks it's in charge, then the letting go of that smaller self as the bigger pattern is recognized, formulated and accepted. People aren't born in Hex 2 mode, in other words, they have to learn and seek and discover how to do it. And yet, in a way, it's not a 'doing' at all, it's a 'being'.

Cheri Huber said "Not My Will, But Thine Will Be Done" in a way that made sense to me...

How much is Hex 2 like 54.5? How are they different?

Taking the subordinate position (as in 54.5) has been on my mind a lot lately. I never thought I would find so much freedom in facilitating a process and allowing another to make the key decisions.

Snapshot answer: 54 involves powerlessness, whereas 2 is powerful; 54 is archetypal, whereas 2 is Super Archetypal. But I'd say that 54 is in the same quadrant as 2, yeah. How do they put it in astrology? 54 is ruled by 2.
