The Austrian Alps are along way from where Sodom and Gomorra are supposed to have been situated, so this does not give any new light on how the twins cities were destroyed.

First, it would have taken a huge chunk of rock to destroy the two cities and secondly there would be evidence of the destruction still viewable from space if not from on site. Asteroids tend to make nasty marks on the surface of the planet.
