This "Dr." almost got me to say "cool!" until I reached this paragraph in the article...

“People are surprised how rigorous this program is,” Marshall said. “Some people come in thinking it’s like a feng shui class or I-Ching, and they find out it’s really hard science.” (http://www.tricities.com/tristate/tri/living.apx.-content-articles-TRI-2008-04-27-0004.html)

So, I guess the Yi isn't complicated or rigorous and that classes of either the Yijing or Feng Shui are something to sneeze at. Makes me wonder if this Dr. knows where the "science" he's teaching is coming from...

Nice to know the books and knowledge survived.
I give the Dr. a pass on his feng shui and I Ching comments. I think he's referring to the classes themselves, not the subject matter. Every metaphysical bookstore in California boasts classes by a Feng Shui Master or I Ching Specialist. Their training is minimal and the courses are pretty thin. I should know, I've taught a few myself!

Hi Luis and Rosada,

I spent 6 weeks in NC for my health last summer. Met Dr. Jay and LaoMa at classes at Duke in Durham, NC. from http://www.magictortoise.com seem a very different set of NC tai chi types. In general Taoist wu wei, isn't quite doing nothing (which my mother told me I was quite expert at). Wu wei is all about living in the Tao so that your actions are a natural expression of your simple life which has the effect of taking care of things. My experience with Gia-Fu in the summer of '73 was my wu wei insight: http://www.stars-n-dice.com/stillpoint.html which is part of the whole Taoist I Ching narrative on my website: http://www.stars-n-dice.com/iching.html
