Hilary and everyone,

Just to let you know that I'm giving a talk on the I Ching tomorrow night at 19:00 at the Manchester Theosophical Society.

The talk is at the Friends' Meeting House, Mount Street in the City Centre near the Library.

I plan to end the talk by consulting the I Ching.

Please come along if you're in the area. I think it costs £2 which includes a cup of tea :~)

I'll let you know how it goes.

Best wishes,

Mick

Hi Mick,

Yes, please do let us know how it goes. I'm especially intrigued by the thought of giving Yi the stand at the end.

I'll be taking a class at 7pm, but I'll think of you. :)

Hilary,

Thanks for your support :)

It was a small turn-out, the organiser was apologetic and blamed the fact that Chelsea - Liverpool was on telly. But it actually worked really well as a small group.

Everyone was attentive and fascinated and the I Ching readings we finished with were perceptive and to the point.

In fact, it went so well that the organiser asked me if I'd like to do a series of talks for the Theosophical Society later in the year. I'll let you know if that comes together :)

Thanks again and best wishes,

Mick

Yes, please do keep us posted. I'd be interested to know what 'headings' you choose for a whole series. And if you give us more notice, maybe there'll be time for the word to get out so more will come. (Football permitting, of course.)

Hilary,

Thank you :~)

It looks as though the talks in Manchester will go ahead later this year. I'll let you know when I have more details.

Best wishes,

Mick

Hilary and everyone,

The first of my three Theosophical Society workshops on the I Ching is on Saturday 25th October at the Friends' Meeting House, Mount Street in Manchester City Centre near the Library.

The workshop runs from 2 - 4 and costs £4 which includes a cup of tea :~)

I'll be starting from scratch looking at Yin and Yang, the Trigrams and the structure of a Hexagram. No previous knowledge of the I Ching is needed.

At the end, I'll consult the I Ching on behalf of one of the attendees.

So, if you live in or around Manchester and you're new to the I Ching, this is a chance to get to know the basics in a nice, friendly setting.

Please let me know if you have any questions at all.

Best wishes,

Mick

Hilary and everyone,

The first workshop went really well. There were ten of us and everyone said that they plan to be back for the second workshop on Saturday 15th November.

For the second workshop I plan to try to get everyone thinking about the six-tier hierarchy of a Hexagram and to take a look at Hx 1, Hx 2, Hx 63 and Hx 64.

We'll end with an I Ching consultation for one of us.

Best wishes,

Mick

Hilary and everyone,

The second workshop went really well.

I prepared very thoroughly and I was quite anxious for it to go well. On the way to the workshop, my water bottle leaked slightly onto my Wilhelm-Baynes copy of the I Ching. Very symbolic :~)

The third and final workshop is on December 6th and the Theosophical Society is going to provide some snacks as well as tea and cakes.

Best wishes,

Mick

Really glad it's going well!

I wonder what water on Wilhelm represents or corresponds to. Hexagram 63, maybe?

Hilary,

Thank you.

The third workshop will be about how to approach the oracle. How to phrase a question and methods you can use to consult the I Ching.

I took the water leaking out to symbolise that I was getting too emotionally involved. I made sure that during the workshop I stayed clear-minded. My aim was to create circumstances so that people had the best possible opportunity to learn.

Hx 63 is pretty accurate I think. All the work was in the preparation and I'd done that. It was just a question of letting things happen from there.

Best wishes,

Mick
