I asked about an ex-partner that lately I haven't been able to stop thinking about. I wondered whether we were supposed to be in touch or together. I got 20 changing to 12.
I am very new to this but I think it means that although things were once great, they are stagnating now. Does that sound right? Is that a no, we are not meant to be in touch?
Thanks for any input!

Yep, that is a no there are far too many obstacles in your way to try for a reconciliation. Move on.

And who would it be that supposes this, who would mean this ? I notice with a lot of romance questions people seem to want to distance themselves from their own desires and put them onto some god or supernatural force or something that means them to be together. How about considering, as this is hex 20 afterall, that noones meaning anything here except you. I think thats what your answer shows, it shows you looking back at the relationship, viewing it, maybe thinking it was a good thing. Now you are out of it its easier to get this view as in 20.4. I can't understand why you would focus on 12 as the relating hexagram more than your answer of 20.4 and like i said 20.4 shows you viewing your time together from a distance thats all. It doesn't mean stagnation. If you want to relate it to 12 look at the fan yao which is 12.4, that is the same line in the relating hexagram which can give you a kind of inverse image of your answer.
Hmm anyway theres nothing fated or meant here, its up to you to have a look at it which you are doing and maybe seeing where you'll go from there. I think it might benefit you to drop the idea othat theres a third force in the relationship meaning you or supposing you to be together and recognise that it is you who means and you who supposes because you are in the position of being able to view this fairly dispassionately and to choose what you want after you've contemplated it all a while.
