to me it seems that you are told to be generous and receptive...
I guess it is a 'yes' to your question.

42.1
It furthers one to accomplish great deeds.
Supreme good fortune. No blame.
Sounds like your offer could really make a difference. Cousin might not be able to go to school without it.
42.5
If in truth you have a kind heart, ask not.
Supreme good fortune.
Truly, kindness will be recognized as your virtue.
Sounds like you are not asking for anything in return and that's okay. Sounds like your kindness would be respected and not taken advantage of.
42.6
He brings increase to no one.
Indeed,someone even strikes him.
He does not keep his heart constantly steady.
Misfortune.
Wow, sounds like it would be real short sighted not to offer! You may need an accountant someday!
Hexagram 2 is about Receptivity. Seems to be saying that you make your offer and then be Receptive to what ever the cousin decides. That is, the I Ching only tells us it approves of you making the offer, but gives no mention as to whether your counsin will - or even should - acceept it.

hi tanjhj
Are you sure that your heart is in this offer? 42.1 and 42.5 looks like it is good thing to do, but 42.6 maybe shows that it could become sour if you do not truly mean it and you have a change of mind.
There might be a bit more to your question than immediately meets the eye.

there is precisely i need people like you guys to offer me advise on this hex. I got confuse with 42.5 & 42.6
As for me, i have no other intention accept for her to future. However, Iching maybe pointing out some thing which i cant see.
As for Hex 2, i think it means i should accept what she decide and respect it.
Thanks Rosada & My_Key,
Pretty confusing reading....

Yes - I agree with the above.
If you truly can make the offer - with no strings attached, I thing I Ching is saying to do it - and then respect whatever she does.
