View Full Version : Root canal gone bad

I recently discovered that a root canal I had about 6-7 months ago was done improperly for some reason. It's really quite hard to believe. The dentist didn't FILL one of the roots with the proper whatever it is they fill them with. He left it "open". The tooth started hurting so I went to another dentist. He took an x-ray and was a bit shocked. He said it's a wonder I managed to go on for months without problems. With this situation in mind I asked the IC:
Why did that dentist botch the root canal? The answer was 3.5 to 24
When I asked the question I had two ideas in mind. One, that he just didn't know what he was doing. Two, he botched it on purpose so that he could get more money out of me.

Root canals need specialist treatment by orthodontists. I have found even they are are not so good and I paid alot of money to see an expert who had all the right, very fine equipment for this work. I think its not unusual for root canals to be botched by regular dentists, infact I think they do it all the time. 3,5 could be saying this dentist just does not have the right equipment/knowledge to do the work. Sometimes there is more than 2 canals there can be three, but regular dentists don't have the resources to see this. I'm glad I went to a specialist as he told me if I had gone with the routine treatment one canal would have been left open as they would not have even detected it.

Thanks for responding Void. I also tend to NOW believe that he simply didn't know what he was doing. When I read Wilhelm's "difficulties in blessing" that was what first crossed my mind. Perhaps 24 is about the fact that I now have a new dentist. Prior to asking the IC I had imagined a greedy dentist trying to scam me.

Hi Exnihilo
I sorry the trouble.
Now, your real question (behind the prhase you used) was: it was a mistake or intentionally?.
The answer is 3.5: it was a mistake. The dentist had good intentions, but his good intentions couldn't be apreciate because he/she had dificulties.
Now, what kind of dificulties? The cause of line 3.5 can be found in 44.5: "Wrapping the melons in willows. A display of restraint" (Bradford's translation... a display of restraint is more clear than Wilhelm's prahse "hidden lines").
Now, some scholars commented about it: "a display of restraint... concentration and integrity"
So.. when ona wrap melons (fill the root) one needs to display not only integrity but also concentration.
If you join the line 3.5 with it's cause 44.5, in your case it was not an integrity problem, but a lack of concentration.
Now, the effect of 3.5 is 24.5: "recognice the error" (Whilelm's comment), "Concentrating in order to examine oneself" (scholar's comment according with Bradford's translation)
It points, it could be useful for you to allow the dentist to recognice his/her mistake.
Best wishes

Here's an update:
I've been taking antibiotics but I did ask the Yi what I need to know about the tooth. Her answer was 33 unchanging. Oh boy. That sounds to me like it's going to have to come out. I have an appointment today and will let you know what happens.

So far the tooth seems OK, or so says the dentist. He's not going to "close" it yet though. I have another appointment early next week.
If 33 unchanging isn't referring to an extraction then perhaps the Yi is telling me to back away from the issue, that it's not something that should concern me too much. I've received 33 unchanging in the past at times when I needed to put distance between myself and a particular issue, to step back and decrease my involvement. Of course, time will tell.
