What do flower essences do? 9.2 - 37

Flower essences are made from water and flowers. You leave the plant in the water for a time and supposedly the water becomes infused with the essence of the flower. Drinking the water is supposed to then do something for a person, depending on the nature of the plant. For example, the essence made from Holly is supposed to make one more aware of Love.
I've tried a sampling of these products and I feel I've gotten results, but I'm not sure and I think I'd get stronger results if I understood just what it is these essences are supposed to do and also it would be nice to be able to introduce them to friends and family.
I asked the IC "What do flower essences do?" I received

The Taming flower of the Small
Has success.
Dense clouds, no reain from our western region.

Refines the outward aspect of his nature.

He allows himself to be drawn into returning.

37.
The Family
The perseverance of the woman furthers.

And duration in his way of life.

"Taming power of the Small" seems to be meaningful in that the flower essences only require a single drop of water to have their proported effect, but i don't understand the rest of the reading.
Possibly the I Ching is commenting on the fact that I would like to tell my friends and family about the essences and is cautioning that they might not be open to my enthusiasm and by talking I would be "exposing myself to rebuff."(Wilhelm 9.2)
I can also see 37. Family as telling me that by not blabbing about the wonders of essences and just continuing to take them I will know what they do because I will see their effects in my life.
Hmmm...writing this out it occurs to me that perhaps the essences will give "substance to my words and duration to my way of life."

Anyway, i would be interested in hearing other people's ideas.

I like your take on 37 - Let the actual thing do the talking, not the words. This is a trap that authors of books on flower essences fall into: a does b, x cures y. A friend who was way into this used kinesiology (muscle testing), subliminal messages from the body to tell her what essences to use (09.2).
If asked and you're wary of ridicule, just say it's related to the better known homeopathy, and you're results aren't all in yet.
The extreme subtlety of chemical/molecular communication in the body is still beyond the comprehension of reason, especially the endocrine and immune systems. Who knows yet what little molecules our sensors can get useful information from?

I see 9.2 as the flower essences leading one back to balance. The problem one uses them for is an off-balance, and they help restoring balance.

I just looked up 9.2 and 37 and got....
Do what you have to do to build up yourself...and keep it to yourself. There's no need to discuss it. This is about building up your own strength -one step at a time.

37 may not mean your literal family - although, I think it does here - it could also mean getting back on track if you're off track. That doesn't sound particularly relevant - but only you would know.

Bradford- Being led to know which essence to use.
Ewald- Being led back into balance.

Rosalie -Interesting to note that being on track would be symbolized by "Family". I see this as reminding me that I can probably get a fairly accurate reading on how centered I am by noting how things are with Family.

Thanks for the tip on how to explain them, too, Brad. "Homeopathy" and "the results aren't in." works for me.

I cannot lie, before I could ask the I Ching "what flower essences do"...I sneezed, then sneezed again. I realized that I had found my answer.

Love it! The first essence you 're encouraged to take is a combination of essences that is supposed to facilitate purifications!
