I've been in a writing program this year, and I'm approaching the end of it. I'm supposed to do an internship this summer at a newspaper or magazine, and I've applied for several, but even though I've done well in my program, I'm not especially optimistic about getting any of the internships I've applied for. I've had this idea for years about wanting to go to South Africa, and I've been thinking about maybe doing that this summer -- finding some way of writing for someone there. I've asked the Yi a bunch of questions about the summer, and nothing I've asked about has seemed to get a big green light.
So this morning, I just asked a very general question: what's the best approach to take to the summer? I got 32.2,4 to 15.
I'm inclined to read that as something along the lines of, take the long view. You're not going to end up doing anything terribly exciting. Avoid situations that really don't offer much, where there's no game in the field. Work with other people, leading them from behind.
So what about South Africa? 39.1,5 to 36. Bummer.
