View Full Version : Will homeopathy help my sister?

My sister has some health issues and she is considering trying homeopathy. This is kinda scary because it would involve going off the medication she's been on. But the medication hasn't been effective anyway, so she's considering this new approach. I believe the doctor she will be working with is very qualified. The really tricky thing is that she is supposed to go through some sort of detox regime before doing the homeopathy. Because of her compromised physical condition, detoxing could be bad for her health.
I asked the I Ching, "Will homeopathy help my sister?" I received 60.2.5 = 24. I see the 24 as positive as in Return of heath, but I don't know what to make of 60.2.5. Is 60.2 saying it would be wrong not to try it and 60.5 saying it will work? Perhaps 60 is about homeopathy itself being based on severly limiting the medication one takes?
Any insights most appreciated.
Thanks,

Hi Rosada,
It doesn't seem like a bad reading to me. The lines in 60:
2. Brad's commentary seems relevant:
"He?s already outside the door and sneaking a peek at the street from his courtyard. But he?s thinking and doubting too much. What are the ramifications? This street seems to go off in two directions at once. What if he goes the wrong way? Fearing no more than a possible error, he ties himself up in anxious hesitation."
I think it's saying that a little curiosity isn't enough. Go for it.
5. Apply the limitations correctly. Perhaps this could be about making sure that her health won't be damaged by trying homeopathy. Doing it, but being careful at the same time. You don't want to make things worse.
Perhaps 24 could also be referring to the fact that this would be a change of path, about trying something different.

To me it would depend entirely on the severity of the illness. It would be iresponsible of any alternative practitioner to ask a person to cease conventional medicine where their lives were at risk etc. I know someone who uses homeopathy but who still must use antibiotics, as in their condition an infection could kill.
On the other hand I had the same dilemma for a relatively minor skin condition - in which case if I dropped my conventional treatment no real harm would be done and I could return to conventional treatment anyway
if homeopathy didn't work.
I think I agree with Exnihilo, seems like theres a little too much caution here. But also 60 may be asking her to look carefully at the perameters (sp) of her illnesses. If its serious illness then no responsible homeopath would recommend ceasing conventional medicine. Theres no reason the two can't run side by side. I know someone who uses both.

Hmm what I was trying to say was maybe 60 here is referring to using the appropriate means and measures in accordance with the illness. 60.2 would indicate as said, not to try this new treatment would be overly cautious. 60.5 says that disciplining oneself, here I guess it means the problems your sister might experience with the new 'regime' are not too tortuous to implement. She can do it and it won't be too hard, in other words.

Thank you so much Exnihilo and Void! I hadn't seen it until I saw your responces, but I think my sister's biggest problem in life is "too much caution". She is brilliant, teaches at Harvard etc., but nothing works for her. It's as if her mind can take everything apart but can't get it moving. I hadn't thought about it before, but now that you point this out, I do think her tendancy to need to know everything is based on inner fear. I think a cure that is beyond the mind's ability to understand or interfer is going to be the answer for her. (hmm just realized the similarity of "inner fear" and "interfer") Anyway, I'm really greatful for your ideas. Not only have you given me some hope for the treatments, but also I think this is a real insight into my sister's nature.
Thank you!
