Sometimes the I Ching just nails it. I love it when this happens because it is so helpful to have "someone" just point out what you're doing, what's essential and no sympathy for moaning and groaning.
We are intending to fly back to New Orleans. It will be the first time I've been back since the flood. We've sold the house and now we have to clear out a storage shed in the backyard. Most everything got distroyed, but some stuff was stored in the container. I don't know what's in there but even if anything good survived we'll have to just pass it on as the cost of trucking anything back to Washington will be prohibitive.
So taking a tip from Rosalie, I asked the I Ching, "What should I focus on when I go to New Orleans?"
I received 56.2.4 changing to 18. The Traveler and Dealing with Decay.
Perfect. No big lecture on the deep spiritual meanings of death and renewal, just reality, "Your taking a trip to clean up a mess." The change lines are kinda nice too..
56.2 Staying at an Inn and getting some help.
We have reservations at a very nice bed and breakfast and we have been able to connect with a neighbor whom we're intending to give anything salvagable to. (So much easier if you have to give everything away to give it to a friend rather than putting it on the curb.) Having the I Ching point this out makes me appreciate that it's not just random luck that we have this Inn and Friend, but evidence Life is looking out for us.
56.4
Wilhelm's traslation specifically says. "limit desires". Yeah, okay, I know I'll only be able to carry a few things back on the plane. "Persistently concious of being a stranger in a strange land." Whoa, a clear warning New Orleans will not be what I remember. Thanks for the heads up.
Changing to 18. Working on What Has Been Spoiled.
Duh.
"The superior man stirs up the people
And strengthens their spirit."
Well this is good advice. Ask not what New Orleans can do for me, but what I can do for New Orleans. I'm not losing my tools, I'm helping my friend in his business.
Anyway, just thought I'd share the thoughts. If anyone sees anything more in the reading, I am interested.
