56 -> 2 and 6 -> 32 Question about beautiful guy who I shouldn't even be asking about!

Hi there,

I work with such a beautiful guy. He's young, he's pretty and he's the kindest person I've ever met. It took me quite a while to believe he was for real. I'm working away from home, and it would have been ten times more difficult for me if he hadn't have been around. He's in a steady relationship as am I (although mine is back home 200miles away). The guy is 16 years younger than me.

There's just about no reason to start thinking about having a relationship with this angel but I asked the i ching anyway because there is such chemistry between us and I feel so comfortable and relaxed around him.

The i ching said:
56 - the wanderer - which I certainly am at the moment!

with changing lines: -2- A loyal servant during my journey - which he certainly is
and also -6- Don't burn your nest or lose your docility - basically I read this as 'don't screw it up' and don't burn my bridges with my guy back home.

Okay I understood all this but the resulting hexagram was a little more confusing ...

32- Duration - Not quite sure whether this means that if I don't screw up, we'll have a long-lasting partnership?

Just don't quite get that. I shouldn't even be asking the i ching about this, I know!

The second hexagram is in general not about the future, although it may give hints about what lies ahead in some cases. It is rather an image of the background of the situation.

If you read it in this way it looks like this answer reflects your thoughts about the situation. You think about this potential love relationship (perhaps shortlived, unstable and so on (hex 56)) against the background of the steady relationships that you both have (hex 32). There is a sharp contrast between these two.

The lines specify this more. On the one hand you feel very comfortable with him (line 2), on the other hand you know that there is the risk that this "fire" will disrupt the stability of your life and his (line 6).

I don't think that the answer predicts anything, it doesn't seem to say where this is going. Perhaps it doesn't even give an advice. You don't need that, you know what is going on and what could happen "if" ..
So, it only mirrors your own thoughts and concerns back to you. At least that's my impression.

Just a thought - depending on policies at your workplace, "burning your nest" might be the consequences of starting a relationship with this person for your work life as well as your love life.

Using Master Yu's comment for romance, we have this combination:

56 Is a waste of time, relationship is not fuitfull
32 Good companion

So, maybe is something like: Don't try a romantic relationship and you could keep a good friend
