A question was asked regarding an application to program A.
"What are the prospects of admission?"

50.1.3>38
I am wondering how do you read that? Does 38 automatically mean a "no", or, in small matters, good fortune. But the matter is not seen as small?

Previously, the IChing was asked for advice regarding admission essays.
It said 53.1,3,6 > 3

Am I right to interpret it as:
slow advance and blockage, but eventually there will be success?
The beginning is especially arduous.

Thank you :bows:

I don't think any hexagram can be said to mean "Yes" or "No," although i recall Jesed, who knows a lot about getting specific answers like timing and such, once said hexagram 1 without change lines meant no. Anyway, in your case you asked, "What are the prospects?" and so I think 38 is saying you are one of many - like siblings in a large family - and at this point your application does not particularly stand out. Your prospects are as good as anyone else's. Everyone has an equal shot.
You might try asking, "What can I do to improve my prospects?"

"What are the prospects of admission?"

Line 50.1 says that you have a chance like the rest of the applicants.

Line 50.3 suggests that you will be blocked, as your entry will be passed over but it suggests try again at another time.

Hex 38 says that your essay diverges to far away from what they want, again rethink your paper and try at some other time.
