Now really confused!

Since making the decision to move on from the situation with my friend at work and have trusted in the guidance from the IC, after a cocktail evening at work this Friday gone I am confused by S. reactions to me talking to another woman who I work with. I am not going to bore you with all the details, but suffice to say that she was acting the opposite of what she was saying both verbally and non verbally previously and showing all the signs of being interested.

After a couple of days reflection, I sought guidance and received 22.2.5->9 I have tried to gain an insight into the situation, but am struggling with the images and lines. To me it is saying "image is important at the moment" but the lines seem to be pointing to "tending to the inner image rather than just the appearance" in line 2 and in line 5 it is pointing to being oneself rather than being influenced by vanity?

I am not sure this makes sense or whether my interpretation is way off the mark. I look forward to some thoughts and comments?

I am assuming since I haven't read all the other post, that she has told you she wasn't interested, but possibly was acting jealous when you were talking to another woman from work.

"the image is more important than the moment", I interpret that as saying, the image of you being interested in the other woman was more important to S than the reality of what the moment was"

"tending to the inner image rather than just the appearance", I interpret to say... focus on what's real and who you are and not what gets a reaction from S"??? Be real and genuine in every situation???

You haven't told us exactly what question you posed to the I Ching. If you can tell us that, it might become a little clearer.

In hexagram 22, both line 2 and 5 are yin. In this case it would tend to speak of two women involved in the situation. If you can, see which line is more likely to apply to you. The second line might indicate that one of the women simply gives him a little joyful interaction without any real content. (That is one possibility without knowing how the question was posed.) The fifth line says, "humiliation, but in the end good fortune." The fifth line does not correspond with the second, as is the case in positive situations, so it adheres to the 9 at the top. The hexagram as a whole symbolizes acceptance. The sixth line accepts the fifth. It is a matter of which line relates to you and which relates to the other woman.

I might add that since the text says, "humiliation, but in the end good fortune," I suspect the fifth line is you. It appears you were at least somewhat humiliated in this situation, but in the end, it sounds like you win.

Yes sorry I forgot to put the original question in! which taken from this esteemed site and was "what does S want from me" due to the confusion I didnt set out to seek a reaction but think that my ego took over a bit and after the event I felt I had acted a bit heartlessly if that makes sense. I am trying to move on from this situation as it makes work difficult, but maybe there is more than I can decipher and also trying to do the right thing but as a newbie to IC I am struggling to make sense of the readings.

This is definitely true, we were just chatting. So I would say the 5th relates to S. I am trying to follow a path of least resistance but it would seem I am making more waves for myself.. !

Thanks again for your interpretations. I am going to ask for a 3 week holiday :) to get some distance.. amongst other things.
