Hello all,

Is there any significance in receiving a Hex with identical trigrams? Does it have any additional meaning?

Thank you,
J-

These eight hexagrams are called Chong Gua (repeated diagrams), and they are special.
Importantly, their meanings are different and more complex than those of the trigrams that make them up.
In effect, you have the same energy at work inside and out, subjectively and objectively, setting up a resonance that becomes a learning experience. For instance, in 29 you study the river moving through the chasm and internalize this as a way of moving through life. In 51, as you mature you learn not to react to the thunder but to own it, to let it move you in ways of your choosing.

It is called the six conflict hexagrams. Line 1/4, 2/5, 3/6 characters are in conflict with each other, setting things and events in motion behind the background.

There is "Chi", but there is no real substance that may be produced.

For relationship hexagram, this means the relationship will not work usually, unless it changes to another type of hexagram. For female, if this is one of your two lifetime hexagram, you may trouble in marrying off or holding down a romance (e.g. hexagram 57).

For all other predictions, sometimes, it refer to something good, but only in the longer term (hexagram 1).

At one point I did a statistical study of the dimensions of Correctness (Dang or Zheng) and Correspondence (Ying) which first made their appearance in the Han Dynasty, more than six centuries after the Zhouyi was written. Correctness assumes that a Yang line is more fortuitous in an odd place, and Yin in an even one. Correspondence means assumes that lines pairs 1&4, 2&5 and 3&6 have a special relationship that is most auspicious when one line is yang and the other yin. The eight Chong Gua or doubled bagua have no Correspondence.
If these were meaningful dimensions at the time the Zhouyi was written, one would expect that instances of both Correctness and Correspondence would show a predominance of mantic markers indicating good fortune, profit, etc., and their lack woud have a predominance of misfortune, difficulty, etc.
This was not the case and the distribution was random. This led me to conclude that these dimensions were nothing more than the fabrications of Han scholars, or at least had no bearing whatsoever on the development of the original Zhouyi.

I was wondering if what you write is not a bit constricting...
If a woman has one of this hex as a lifetime hex and you tell her she will not marry, won't it become a self-fulfilling prophecy?
Things and people change through life...
