A friend of mine awaits their results for their examinations. They asked if they will receive the results they reckon upon. This hexagram is quite confusing. Why the shock (51.3), and culminating into 55, does it mean yes, or no? Related posts mention that 55 lasts only for a short while. What does this mean with regards to the results they will get?
thank you again.

The results look negative, indicating failure but the line adds that they should not worry as a new opportunity will present itself and they should certainly go for it. hex 55 shows that success comes from following whatever opportunity is presented and followed in line 51.3.

Thanks willowfox. They want a very good grade, but they know that it is very likely that they miss the cut-off mark by a slight margin. It does fit in with not getting it, but probably having another opportunity to obtain it in the end. Thanks for your help.

It could go either way, but he probably has some troubles to resolve before passing.

51.3 indicates thunderous impetuosity. 55 means a great quantity of something, but of what? 55 can mean abundance, but it can also mean being eclipsed or being isolated. The nuclear trigrams form 39, which means Trouble, consult with someone about your troubles. Other hexagrams associated with his question are 9 and 15. One meaning of 9 is displaying your scholarly accomplishments, which fits in with the fact that he has taken an exam. 15 might mean he will be able to carry his affairs forward to completion. But 9 often brings restraining factors and the need to fix up the outward appearance of things. And 15 can call for more humility, a more moderate way of acting, as opposed to the thunderous impetuosity with which he is approaching his studies:mischief:. Line three moving in many hexagrams indicates some kind of difficulty.

If you want a simple and clear answer then I believe one should stick with the lines and 2nd hex because wandering off into exotic territory only leads the querant into complete confusion. If the querant cannot find an answer in the given lines then they are certainly not going to find it by delving into all sorts of other hexs. The further one goes into the woods the more lost one becomes.
