The Yi can be confusing, especially considering that throughout history it has been shown though a prism creating a spectrum of interpretation.<br>It&#8217;s easy to get lost in a reading but Hilary&#8217;s insight can clarify and reveal facets of new interpretation. So this is like the course &#8211; with all the essentials for good readings and none of the optional extras &#8211; plus&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"nv-cv-d nv-cv-m wp-block-list\">\n<li>full &#8216;immersion&#8217; in the processes of interpretation with oodles of opportunity to practise (both on the calls and inbetween)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>my personal help and support all the way<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the company of a group of fellow-students to learn with (and from!).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The class will be for just 12 people at most, as I&#8217;ve found that number works well &#8211; enough for a lively group, but few enough that we can get to know one another, with ample time for me to help everyone individually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here&#8217;s an excerpt from the very end of the final call of an earlier Foundations Class (which, yes, happened to fall on my birthday!):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video controls poster=\"https:\/\/www.onlineclarity.co.uk\/c\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Luca.png\" src=\"https:\/\/www.onlineclarity.co.uk\/c\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Luca_Ascending_2019.mp4\"><\/video><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How can you get to know the oracle?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Yijing is an astonishingly beautiful work of art and a store of great wisdom, but more importantly, it&#8217;s a&nbsp;<em>working oracle<\/em>. This means that <strong>the only way to get to know it is through your own readings<\/strong>. (It&#8217;s not so different from getting to know another person: you need to&nbsp;<em>talk<\/em> with them.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sometimes this works beautifully&#8230; and sometimes it&#8217;s a bit like being parachuted into the middle of a foreign country where you don&#8217;t speak the language. There&#8217;s too much information: one massive blur of hexagrams, lines and strange imagery. Where are you meant to start? It seems you need to know everything before you can learn anything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In fact, there are just <strong>two things you need<\/strong>: experience getting inside the imagery and recognising how it&#8217;s speaking to you, and a working knowledge of a reading&#8217;s structure. The Foundations Class walks you through these step by step: first the living experience of imagery, then the structure and syntax of a reading. From the start, you&#8217;re guided by what you recognise in your own readings, so you can hear what the oracle&#8217;s telling you and develop your natural fluency as a reader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Class outline<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each week, you&#8217;ll go through the lesson materials in your own time (they&#8217;re available as video, audio and text) and apply what you&#8217;re learning to a reading of your own through an assignment\/ experiment. Let&#8217;s turn that upside-down: <em>first<\/em> you absorb the lesson materials at your own pace, and&nbsp;<em>then<\/em> you can get all the help you need with applying and integrating what you&#8217;ve learned. This happens through both the weekly classes and also the private forum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The live classes come at the end of each week, after you&#8217;ve had a chance to absorb the lesson materials and do the assignment. And since the first students to take the Foundations Class back in 2015 were very clear that they needed more time for the more in-depth modules towards the end of the class, we invented &#8216;integration weeks&#8217;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These are weeks simply for breathing space, catching up if you need to, practising with more readings if you like, and generally taking the time to make the tools your own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Change Circle membership<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You&#8217;ll have full access to Change Circle for the duration of the Class.
