Hello All!

Given the recent changes I have experienced, and the changes I would like to happen I asked the Yi, "What major changes can I expect to occur in my life by the end of April?"

The response is (2)2.3.4.5.6

Now I have heard that in the case of five changing lines I would actually read the one, non-changing line...Is this correct? If not, which line should I be reading? Perhaps I need to rephrase??

Please and thank you for your assistance!

I decided to follow up with "What positive changes can I effect in my own life to further my goals?" with a response of 64.4>23

I think that one is telling me that i am in the beginning stages of transition and I need to hold faith in my course and "persevere", that changes are already underway. Now to put the two together?

64.4 seems very promising

make a decision what you want and then go for it

maybe you should ask for each goal on its own? i would do definately do so ;-)

I usually consider all the lines it gives me, but that's just the way I do it, so I dunno.

Also, you made a mistake in your second reading. 64.4 leads to 4, Youthful Folly. Don't know if you got a 9 in the second place and didn't mention it or just misread what 64.4 changes into, but there's that.

Hi Serinasioux,

When I get a bunch of changing lines I will read them all over and form a general idea from them overall as a whole. Sometimes they will contradict eachother and I will make judgement as to which aspects of my question they individually are pointing at. Sometimes even they are steps that I go through in order from bottom to top in time.

My interpretation of your reading 2.2.3.4.5 > 6 is that you are coming from a place of conflict (6) where you have been feeling trapped or .. well.. conflicted. Maybe recently you have been at a crossroads and did not know which way to go or that maybe neither option seemed entirely too good. Could also imply an argument. The advice overall for 6 is to not act out and bring everything to order, because there is none. It seems maybe this is something you could already be doing. Your question, "What major changes can I expect to occur in my life by the end of April?" implies that you are letting go of trying to bring order and instead, going where the wind takes you.

Yijing's advice from 2, is in being welcoming and to not have expectations, and to continue being open to new things coming in. Line 2 especially is about not having expectations, or even if you do (which is hard sometimes not to), that good things are coming your way but they might not be what you dream them to be. Line 3 is about continuing on even without anyone giving you credit for your accomplishments. Strangely, sometimes, even not getting a pat on the back for things, you can still develop a sense of inner accomplishment that you can carry with you. :) Line 4 and "the bag tied up". The bag holds all of the possibilities that can come to you. It is not open so there is no specific way Yijing is saying things will go. But it is all right there for you in the bag.I think being receptive is a good way to shape the things in the bag into something possitive. Line 5 with "the yellow garment". The symbolism is in the color which means a lot of things. Being humble, which can have enormous effects and change you greatly and set you on your path. :) Have you ever seen the movie Fearless with Jet Li?? There is a ox in the movie named Yellow. He represents devotion, being of service and giving all that there is to give without anything in return . I don't want to say too much about the movie, but I will recommend it to you instead!

Overall, I think the reading is saying that if you are receptive to your surroundings, the people you interact with, the experiences that are coming your way and everything else inbetween, while also not expecting to be the force behind things happening, you will have great change in your life that can shape the way you see the world. It's all in the bag. Know it is there, but don't expect things, instead just accept them. When you are faced with opportunity and it feels right, it will guide you and become a part of you. You don't need to go looking for it.

Take care,
AQ

I think you hit the nail on the head there:). The second/relating hexagram, again I see it as where you are coming from. Perhaps trying to peel open the 'bag' from 2.4 :D. 64 is just saying that you have to wait for the right moment and then change will happen. I think you received Lines 2 and 4. Line 2 is a 'put on the breaks' line. It's not time to go. Line 4 is a sign that after a longer duration of time, the way will open up for you.

Hi serinasioux,

Yes, if five lines are changing the focus is drawn to the one line that is stable, in your case line 1, and the changing lines serve to create the second hexagram, 44. Looking closely at the various lines it becomes apparent that each one represents a distinct situation and attempting to combine these differing statements into one answer simply isn’t tenable, nor is it consistent with what is known from the historical record. For more discussion of multiple lines you can read an article I posted here.

There was a 9 in the second place, perhaps I should have mentioned that :)

Thank you for your reply, I can tell you put a lot of thought into it!

Hi Serinasioux,

My interpretation of your reading 2.2.3.4.5 > 6 is that you are coming from a place of conflict (6) where you have been feeling trapped or .. well.. conflicted. Maybe recently you have been at a crossroads and did not know which way to go or that maybe neither option seemed entirely too good.

This is very accurate, I was torn between moving south and staying put where I am now. Either way I need to set down some roots and create a more stable life for myself. I have chosen to move however, there are elements of making a transition like that that still need to come together.

Your question, "What major changes can I expect to occur in my life by the end of April?" implies that you are letting go of trying to bring order and instead, going where the wind takes you.

This is also true. Recently, I have been asking the Yi a lot of questions about what actions I should be taking to prepare myself to make the transition to the South and received responses to the effect of "there are already forces at work and I really need to just get out of their way and let the chips fall where they may." I have still been searching for various options but I haven't been stressing myself out with time constraints. I guess I am waiting for the opportunity that feels completely right before I make that sort of commitment. I have also received warnings not to be hasty in making any decisions.

This is very useful, thank you :)

I love martial arts films, i will have to check this out!

Seems like I am on the right track...
