Hi everyone!

I'm a writer. I have one client that I worked for before and recently I sent them something I thought would be interesting for them but they never responded. I sense *something* is up but what?

I asked: why aren't they responding and got 44.4>57

This is interesting. The client's business is all male and I feel that maybe they find my female perspective somewhat intimidating? Also I keep feeling that maybe they are missing out and this line seems to agree with that idea.

Then I asked: how was my piece received by them. 29.3.6>57

57 again. What could this mean? I've always had trouble understanding this hex. It seems it is telling me something important because I got it twice, but I can't really grasp it.

I find the hexes and the lines I got quite mysterious and hard to understand.
If anyone can help me shed some light on this, that would be awesome!

First of all, I too have had the experience - in the world of academic philosophy - of males being stand offish due to gender issues. It is vile, and I would hope this would no longer be the case, but all too often is.

'Here are some ideas on your hex/line for the first one: I have always found line 4, in my own readings, to deal with either a lack of empathy or a lack of resources.

H44 can sometimes be perceived as a bold "woman" , a force of darkness, who is coming to meet, in an aggressive or threatening way, and should be avoided. Of course, this may be a chauvenist and thus biased and WRONG perception on the part of your clients all male clique.

Emotional I ching views 44 as "the crossing of a border or boundary". Line 4 he sees as "valueless convictions" which in this case would indicate the males, I should think, unless you would like to examine your own.

57 requires a gentle penetration into the matter. H29.3.6 is about multiple dangers and becoming entrapped by these.

From Berkers :

44. Providing

Providing.
The woman is strong.
No use to marry the woman.

For the provision of something one is dependent on someone in a strong position. One cannot win this person over to one's own side.

Line 4:

There is no fish in the surroundings.
Emerging misfortune.

Something is not available. As time passes, the problems this raises will get worse.

changing to: 57. Penetration

Penetration.
Somewhat progressing.
It is beneficial to have a goal to move to.
It is beneficial to see a senior person.

Penetrating into a situation. Progress goes slowly. It's good to have a plan. It is good to get some help or advice.

Well...I have to be honest here. The piece I wrote is about my own convictions. This made me think: maybe the client thinks they are valueless? To 'womanly'? It still puzzles me why they didn't just tell me 'no'. That's what I find so strange.

Hello, hard to say with certainty but it is somewhat logical to me also...may be that they are surprised by the contents of your writing. They may find it odd, nontypical from you.
They just could be thinking about it, unsure of how to respond...maybe you will meet half way..in sense they or you should offer to meet half way in terms of making changes with it.
Please, let us know of the result.

I agree. I think maybe they are undecided. They (or whomever was responsible for the acceptance or rejection) may have put it aside, not wanting to reject it, but not ready to accept it, perhaps. Can you send them an email, just asking if they got the piece and requesting a bit of feedback?

No update, it is getting really weird now! No contact, no email, no nothing. I really don't understand. If they think my piece is rubbish they could have said so. If they think it needs work etc. But keeping quiet like this is just plain weird.

I asked: why is there no response to my last email. 2.2

Hmm. Square, straight...sounds like the company itself. Very male, very dry, quite infuential. What else to make of this reading?

Any insight is very much appreciated (not just because I would like an answer to my question but more importantly I learn so much about the I Ching!).

It is indeed weird.

So am I right, that you emailed them an update, saying you were still interested in their feedback? And MORE silence followed??

Also, let me ask you, was what you wrote about something that you stand by strongly, or do you yourself have doubts? The reason I ask you is, I have experienced things in the past (yeah, some odd silences , too) and sometimes it has oddly been my OWN doubts which seem to have created some bad "gestalt" around the event. If this is not the case with you, then I do not know.

After all, the proper response would be, "Dear Ms. P: Thank you for your submission. However, we do not feel that your piece fits our needs at the present time. " OR "Kindly revise this piece with less X and more X, and we may be able to consider publishing it in the near future."

Could line 2 be telling YOU to be steadfast, straight, square? In other words, submit the piece someplace else, and to heck with these rude, rude, unprofessional men????

The Emotional I ching speaks of H2 line 2 as the need to be adaptable to outside demands, "more stimulus response than considered action" - which is an odd reading of that line. Could there be truth in it? Dunno....:brickwall:

Pocossin once gave me his take on that line, considering somebodys intentions, I think...and now I still can`t get it :-( but the previous readings spoke to me about shifting it back and forth, so maybe it is still in works. Nothing to do but wait. Sorry I can`t be of much use.

Yes, I emailed them, asked for feedback and then...nothing.

It is a piece about something I very strongly believe in, something that is really important to me and I am absolutely 100% convinced about. Could it mean that they think I'm biased? Not objective enough. I don't know, I'm just guessing now! I wonder if I created this myself. It is important to me, maybe that urgency makes it an obstacle?

Dragona you helped me by telling me you yourself have troubles grasping that line. Sometimes it feels really nice to know I'm not the only one!

Then you should stand by the piece, keep submitting it to other places. Could they be backlogged, simply slow in getting back to you? I have had the experience of believing I am being ignored, and then getting communication, quite late.....

If they think you are biased, they should simply say, "Thank you for your submission, but we believe this piece is biased in a way which we are not. " I just think professionalism requires some acknowledgment, but it seems in the business/publishing world, people are not as polite as they used to be. I was looking to book a client in a club in Provincetown last year: Sent a polite email, and attached pics and videos, to 7 different places. Never heard back from ANY of them, with a Yes or No. Just nothing.:duh:

That's what I will do and I will update as soon as I hear back from them (or not!) and solve this mystery!

Found it! it was 2.2,4
"There are various ideas about 2.2. I think it refers to the conveyance of title to land by the enfeoffment ritual, and following Harmen could be translated "Bestowed frontier is great." Basically it was an authorization for a nobleman to control an area if he could conquer it."pocossin
I thin this is telling you that he ball is in their corner and they are thinking of an strategy perhaps and the right approach (like the Army). Is there a phrase "I am chewing on it"? :)

Thought they are your exclusive publishers or similar since you sent it there exclusively.

Well I never heard back from the company but a much bigger fish came along and published my piece resulting in a lot of attention and good comments.
Still not sure what happened with company nr. 1.

Ha, that is wonderful news, and those first simply lost out. I suspect they were simply doing the impolite thing which etiquette used to prevent but in our present era has become the norm: If the answer is 'no', they simply do not trouble themselves with any communication . Rude and infuriating.

I am going through similar now and posted about it last night - http://www.onlineclarity.co.uk/friends/showthread.php?t=15079

hope I get a similar ending!

I know, how rude huh? First rule: be polite. Second rule: be polite. It's all part of the networking code: you may need eachother at some point and it's just good common sense and the cultured thing to do. Oh well.
I'm heading over to the other thread and read about your quest!
