I want to start by quickly sharing that I had a dream earlier this week where my home was hit by a tornado and I had to rush down to the basement to survive. After I survived, another tornado would appear on the horizon and head straight for my home and hit it again. I believe this happened four times. On the last time, I finally get out with just me and my cat and am so relieved.

I asked Yi what the dream was trying to tell me: 16 UC. That night I leave my phone in a car and someone steals it. Today I track the phone and go to the neighborhood it was leading me to, and while I was talking to the police, my car was towed costing me over $200 to get back. I also did not get the phone back.

When I moved to this new city in August, thousands of dollars worth of my belongings, sentimental and tech, were stolen on my very first night here from the garage underneath my apartment. I had also just received an expensive speeding ticket on a very rare occasion where I went slightly over the limit.

Tonight, I asked Yi why I am experiencing these hardships: 18UC. I almost asked how I can fix my karma. I don't know where to go from here. I don't know what is wrong and is rotten at the Source. I was going to use the word karma because I don't see how all these situations of the same type can be happening if they are not somehow coming from me, if that makes sense.

Hi leighd,

"What is my dream trying to tell me?" 16UC
"Why am I experiencing these hardships?" 18UC
"How do I fix the corruption of 18 in myself? 7UC

16 ~ Your dream was telling you that you will undergo a total of four shocks (yang at line 4) ~ phone, towing, theft and ticket ~ associated with moving (thunder) your home (earth).

18 ~ You (mountain) are still unsettled (wind) from your move.

7 ~ Keep marching on and give it two more months (yang at line 2).

Moving your home is said to be one of the most difficult and challenging things that we do in life, because we leave behind the familiarity of all that we know on a daily basis and start over from scratch: Being confused and disoriented for a while is natural. Getting overwhelmed is easy. Keeping it all straight is hard.

The ancient Chinese considered confusion and disorientation, and being overwhelmed and overburdened, to be the work of displeased ancestral spirits. Needless to say, moving your home is going to rile some of them up. In your case, the cost to leave town has been four shocks.

Now, however, you've come through all that, and hopefully you are becoming more familiar with your new city ~ stay with it for another two months, and you will have routinized (the Army) your new life.

Karma isn't forever ~ once you've paid your tab ~ those debts are gone for good.

I hope this helps!

16 mentions the power of music. You might want to make a point of avoiding listening to disruptive music and playing classical pieces like Swan Lake to attune you to a more peaceful vibration.

18uc doesn't mean you're rotten at the source. It can in this context just mean past lives. I received 18uc for a question about my past life identity, with no rottenness or bad karma implied.

The Image for 17. Following says that at night the superior man goes to bed (or something like that). So with that in mind I see the next hexagram, 18, as reference to how sleep can Work On What Has Been Spoiled (like curing a sniffle a good night's sleep will cure you or if you have an idea you're confused about if you "sleep on it" you know what to do in the morning) So you might make a point of saying a prayer, doing some affirmations, or listening to positive hypnosis suggestions on you tube before going to sleep at night.

That's helpful - a few days ago I received 18.1>26 in response to a question whether I could/should rest for a while rather than do a load of work. I didn't really understand the answer but in any case I fell fast asleep on the sofa while trying to work it out. :)

To work on what has been spoiled (18).

Job from the Bible. Doing the journey for journey's sake.

How do I fix the corruption of 18 in myself? 7UC - the Army

Get yourself in alignment/in order. (7)

You get out with you and the cat. All the losses. This may be about getting to what is essential. Going without to go within.

Thank you so much for all the responses. I found them comforting and also practical-- two of my favorite things. I've been struggling a bit and this advice and insight has really helped me.

18 ~ You (mountain) are still unsettled (wind) from your move.

Thanks, radiofreewill. Something about the timeline of two months made me feel really good, like I'm getting there and I can just focus on this little chunk of time. I really am getting more settled in my new city and like it here a lot. Sometimes I forget that I can't expect everything to be settled after only 2.5 months.

Rosada, thank you! I've done this is the past and it helped me feel more calm. When I saw your post it was like aha! What a good idea. I found an album I really like and slept well that night.

I've been contemplating the idea of past lives or just in general events that are not in my control. I'm weighing that with taking personal responsibility in what happens in my life. Haven't reached any conclusions, but it's comforting to think both ideas are in play.

Oh my goodness, I love this. I read this while I was at work after having been up nearly all night stressed about these events, and when I got home that night I listened to a few podcasts, straightened up my room (which always feels good once its done) and went to sleep at 10:30-- several hours before I usually do. I felt so good the next day. I think resting is going to be really important to getting back into alignment.

Thanks, beatpoet. The journey for the journey's sake is a nice reminder. Also, love your username.

Just to add, if you're at all interested in astrology I've found that sequences of bad luck and disasters often coincide with certain difficult planetary transits. However, periods like this can be viewed as opportunities to learn, grow and adjust our values. So these apparent problems, if used carefully, provide an opportunity to repair our lives even if we didn't think anything was broken. These 'bad patches' in my life have been huge learning curves for me...
