I wonder how it feels to have a crowd singing along just to your playing ?

16 ish ?

To me for some reason anything Freddie Mercury is hex 1 not in the butch sense but the untiring energy and just who he was on stage or something

Moss Elk - yes, I like, thank you. Mostly I'm entranced by the 'cellist's complete security with that strap - I've forgotten what they're called, but Tiger should have one.

Trojina - maybe a bit of 16 to Freddie as well? There's fragility along with the energy. As for how it feels... well, a bit frustrating when they depart at a different speed, because if I go with them I'll be parting company with the rest of the orchestra, which is officially a Bad Idea. Apart from that, it makes the whole thing a lot less scary than if every note were falling into a hushed silence.

(Hm - 'mildly frustrated but not nearly as terrified as I might have expected' - can you tell I'm not a soloist by nature?)

But would they have sung if it wasn't you playing the cello ?

I don't know. I tend to think not.

Perhaps you are a natural crowd gatherer without knowing it ? I mean you gathered quite a sizable crowd here without leaving your house.

Believe me, they were singing anyway. They sang along with gusto to Prokofiev, for crying out loud, and were singing, 'We love you 'cello, we do' to Tiger during the soundcheck. Bless'em.

Bless them and the beers they'd consumed, most likely. (Which, of course, takes nothing away from the deservedness of various 'cellists, orchestras, and crowd-gatherers.)

(See that, I have finally learned to write "'cello" with an " ' ".)

(By the way, who is Tiger? Is he a member of your orchestra? Does he have a YouTube channel? Etc.?)

Tiger is a smidgen too young (at 14) and just a tad over-qualified for the orchestra. He's a pupil of Robert Max (the conductor - a superb 'cellist who teaches at the Royal Academy, which makes playing solos under his nose not at all embarrassing) who brought him along for the day. I don't even know his surname and haven't found him online, but I think he's going to do OK .

I was driving around today, running errands with my daughter. She was playing on her phone and asked, "what time were you born?" I told her the time. After a few seconds she said, "Oh, dad. Oh ...dad" and started giggling.

I scowled and said "just what do you mean by oh dad?

She said, "I just looked up your natal chart and your Venus is the same as your Sun sign, and that explains a lot."

:D

I wonder if it would be funnier to the Astrology folks here, since I don't get it.

@rosada @Trojina what did she mean?
lol

I see you mentioned me but I have received no mentions ?

No it's not funny to have venus in your sun sign, well depends on what your sun sign is as to what she meant

Well, it's Gem & Gem.

I'll have to ask her directly.
(although I am not inclined to discuss my love life with her!)
She painted my new avatar.
(It's me and her!)

That's so cute. I can't see what it is till I go to your profile to enlarge.
Your avatars are now mood signallers - it's been a rocky road from doormat to fireworks to family portrait.

I only just noticed the fox in post 10. I have dreams exactly like that. Is it really a fox ?

Gemini and Gemini you flighty creature

That's a really good painting. (Not that I know anything about painting, of course, but I'm impressed. I enlarged it from your profile page to see it better.)

So, this little guy doesn't like when his parents leave home, so he starts singing a song when they are tying shoes preparing to leave.

Wildlife, wildlife.
Meet my roommates of three years.

The Yellow Gal is Ziggy.
She is an anxious spaz. *flap* *flap*
She tries her best to imitate the birds outside the window, but she doesn't really have a great singing voice. (shh, don't tell her.)
Sometimes I awake at 3 a.m. because she just had to ring her bell five times.
I walk to her cage and find her looking at me wide eye & unblinking, expressing,
"Bell, Duh"

The Blue Lady is Stardust.
She is beautiful and calm,
she loves the sound of soft flute or synthesizer, and will perch sideways craning her neck to listen.
She never causes a fuss,
and never gets bothered by Zig.

Oh, they're beautiful. I like birds. (They would not, however, co-exist peacefully in a house with two 🐱s.)

I wonder how far down the food chain personality reaches? Cats have personalities, you're telling us so do birds - anyone know a paramecium?

Rats certainly have individual personalities. I have a friend who keeps them and gives us a running commentary. (They wouldn't do well with birds either, though!)

(Off to Google 'paramecium'...)

Seems to me the duck followed the cat, there was no footage of the cat bringing it in.

And to say "Oh Slippers you stupid cat" well that's gratitude for you I mean if he did bring it back it was quite an achievement.

Slippers must be thinking "what do these people actually want ?"

Now I will spend the day worrying about the duck. I mean, it flew away but is that because it's really okay, or just adrenaline?

I learned that song on the piano when I was little. Written by the same people as most of the James Bond themes. #🎼trivia
