Hello everyone,

Call me a hypochondriac, but my doctor suspects there's a low risk I have a form of virus which can lead in some rare cases to cancer development and I haven't been able to get the worry out of my head. Even if you have the infection it doesn't necessarily lead to it. so I asked the Yi a direct question:

will I get ill from this infection?

and received the answer

44.2 to 33.

One interpretation, I'm told, is a pandemic held at bay through quarantine. This looks like it's either telling me to be very careful, or that my immune system will do the work for me. Any thoughts?

Much appreciated

I don’t know if it’s saying be VERY careful, but it does seem to be advising you to be aware of the situation and thus not to impose heavy demands on your system. Especially not to put yourself at risk hosting guests and doing other things beyond the call of duty. Go to bed at a normal hour, lead a normal existance. The rock star party life is over!

Thanks, Rosada. Discipline about daily living is not my strong point! A good point.

The problem is in the mouth. I read for this question twice and the second time got

31.6 to 33.

Interesting it refers to the jaws and tongue. And the second hex is 33 in both cases.

Hello Brianna!

Will I get ill from this infection? 44.2 says:"There is a fish in the bag -- no error! But it is of no advantage to the guests." [Blofeld ] So the "guest"- the more serious illness- won't benefit from the situation.
Meanwhile, both readings seem to prevent you from sexual relationships for a while.

Good luck!

Hello this-is-peace: I'm a bit slow to the uptake, so I didn't fully get that you're talking about an STD until you wrote the above ....

You've gotten some good responses here. Adding to the mix .... one name for 44 is 'Dissipation' which goes along with the hexagram's imagery: tiny specks/molecules of wind are picked up and scattered across the vast sky. For me it can be about the spreading of - or searching for - ideas, direction, answers.

I think it could also be describing what you're going through, at least in your mind: ... you've been given only one or only a few bits of (incomplete) information about, what? ... perhaps, maybe a virus, that perhaps, maybe leads to cancer??? - and you've taken that and run with it - which is only natural!

So the "guest"- the more serious illness- won't benefit from the situation.
I like Mary's take on line 44.2, which in one translation reads:

The creel holds a fish. Nothing is wrong. But this will not benefit the guests.

Another take on this might be: the creel is you/your body, the fish is the virus that you've 'caught', but this is workable (nothing is wrong), and it is a good idea to keep this from others.

Looking to the resulting hexagram, 33, this can be about getting/gaining a new perspective on one's situation: to see it from farther away or closer up, or from a different angle or point of view.

One thing that can change our perspective is knowledge. Sometimes, after gaining some new insight or piece of information, I will find myself saying something like, 'hmmm, I never thought of it like that'. But it does require a bit of mental flexiblity and perhaps humbleness (e.g. we dont know everything, yet!) on our parts.

So, could this be a call that you need to know more about whatever it is you may or may not have - like, do you actually have a virus, what caused it? Is it treatable, or manageable, and if so, how do you do that? Can it be spread to others, and if so, how can you prevent this? And so forth .....

So, in summary: you may have caught something, but it can be dealt or worked with, but in order to do that you need more information, including how not to spread this to others.

Having said all that, I'll put in a plug for not relying too heavily on the Yi for medical advice, but to think of it more as supplemental information, especially since I at least have no medical background, nor do I know how to use the Yi for medical purposes.

Some people do however - but even their diagnosis is sometimes, 'you need to see a doctor!'

Best, D

Thank you so much for your long generous response. It's funny how all these things tie together - fear can spread like a virus, and so can bad energy, from one person to another, like my ex to me. These readings, the way you've seen them, say as much about those things as about the literal virus itself I think. Setting boundaries is really important, and not asking in the wrong guests to your heart... or anywhere else.

And yes, a doctor's opinion is really paramount. Thank you so much!

Actually everyone has had one or several of the +100 types of hpv at least once in their lives, except people who have just have one partner and have been faithful to each other all their life.

your body usually fights the virus in a few months and you will never know you had it. but it remains in your body, silent (like herpes labialis)

it might Appear back years later when your immune system is low, when you are stressed and so on.

this is just to say that your ex boyfriend might not be responsible for it, unless he has been your only partner

he may havegot it before meeting you if he was not a virgin
Keep calm and take supplements, eat well, and all will be fine :)
